Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Guys like Cheli, Schneider, maybe even Rolston may be too old. I think they may look to have a youth movement this go around. Isn't our young Dman Smith American? I doubt he will be on the roster but he should be getting done with College around there. Perhaps he will make it. Guest blueadams Report post Posted February 20, 2008 agreed. - Rolston still has some serious speed though. He'll have a real shot. - I'm not gonna be one to bet against Chelios. Do you want to? -Schneider's still got a rocket on the PP. He might have a shot. I guess we'll see how he ages though.
up2here 41 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I'd say you pretty much have it. A couple names to mention though that might be having an impact in 2 years:TJ Hensick and Rob Schremp.
Guest blueadams Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Really? You don't think any of those reserves deserve to be starters or anything?

BigTex 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I bet they bring on Modano to be captain and add some leadership. He'll still be able to play at a decent level by then
34Legace34 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 when i think team USA, its hard to think they would have a solid roster. But when I see that list, its easy to see that is a team that can do some damage. now on the other hand, the Canadians can field 2 teams that would easily compete. Damn i would love to see another Canada / USA final.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Here's my best guess (*-reserve)...what do you guys think? If i'm the GM I take these guys for sure, ABSOLUTELY, No if's and's or but's F: Patrick Kane Phil Kessel Dustin Brown Zach Parise Chris Drury Scott Gomez Brian Rolston Paul Stastny Erik Cole Brian Gionta Ryan Kesler Peter Mueller *Christopher Higgins *Matt Cullen *David Legwand D: Erik Johnson Jack Johnson Ryan Suter Mike Komisarek Brian Rafalski Ryan Whitney *Paul Martin *Chris Chelios G: Rick DiPietro Ryan Miller *Tim Thomas Others to think about: R.J. Umberger Paul Gaustad Mike Grier David Booth Ryan Malone Lee Stempniak Joe Corvo Matt Carle Matthew Schneider Jordan Leopold Guys I would definitely lean towards Mats Niskanen Kane Grier Booth Carle But who knows, we've got 2 more years to go. By then Jack Johnson might be the most dominant young US dman in the league and Kane or Mueller might be in the top 10 in league scoring. Nice to see that we've finally got some young blood coming up through the ranks. Not too mention the wealth of talent that hasn't been tapped yet: Bobby Ryan James Van Riemsdyk Okposo Mitera-D Foligno Skille Oshie Lashoff-D Lee-D McDonah-D Shattenkirk-D Cole-D Blum-D Petrecki-D Finley-D Fischer-D Sanguinette-D along with Jack and Erik Johnson the US seems to be turning out a hoard of great defense prospects. 34Legace34 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 and to some of the other posts Modano : yes. definately. same reason Joe Sakic will be Captain of team Canada as a UM fan and London resident, i would love to see both TJ Hensick and Robbie Schremp in that lineup, but i dont see it happening. Guest blueadams Report post Posted February 20, 2008 (edited) i doubt modano. There's going to be a youth movement in 2010...with 2014 in mind. Edited February 20, 2008 by blueadams

Guest blueadams Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I think the idea in 2010 is to just get these young kids some experience. There is a real US movement coming on. The young stars who shine in these olympics will be the leaders of an ever more talented team in 2014, playing against less talented competition.
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 On top of the USA roster, who do you guys think will be the favorites going into the Olympics? Will Sweden still hold it as reigning champs? Or with Some key guys getting older, will it move to someone else? This is also the first Olympics to be played no N.A. sized ice, so that will take away any (possible) benifit to Euro players. I think the Czechs had their best shot last go around. With Hasek and Jagr gettin on, I dont see them being top three. Obviosuyl Russia has Ovy and Kovalchuk, which is huge in itself. Canada, well, they we are generally ranked high, but you all saw what happened in 06'. I'm stoked. I wonder when I should put in my notice with my work to call that time off. It is 2 years away, but still, can never be too early.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if Madonna retires by then. As far as Cheli goes, he'll play in the 2014 Olympics also, so why even talk about 2010?

up2here 41 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Replace Shane Doan with Eric Staal, Jason Arnott with St. Louis or MAYBE Steve Stamkos, and Redden with DREW DOUGHTY, and yes, we have a roster. I'll give you Staal,he was a tough cut for me. I took Doan for penalty killing and a bit of a grinder. I dont want St. Louis anywhere near this team and Doughty and Stamkos have to prove themselves first, even if they do after one year in the league I cant see them deserving a spot over some of these guys. Maybe Ill make Canada B.
