russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 you know I feel spoiled saying this but this is the longest cup drought of my wings fan life....I started watching hockey at age 4 in 1991, and they won 6 years later, than the next season, than I had to wait 4 seasons, and this is season # 6 if they dont win it...It could be a record...I dont like that record Wings...keep the droughts short for me.... datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 at least the wings played hard tonight (other than the first half of the first). they looked like they were desperate, that's a good thing. unfortunately datsyuk can't do it all by himself. it's clear our talent completely bottoms out after dats and z with all of these injuries. datsyuk had to be everywhere tonight. he was defense, he was winger, he was center. anyway, i thought they played hard and that's all you can ask for. i was impressed with ericsson. i'd love it if they kept him up over meech, or even lebda. if he can add some bulk to his frame he could be really good for us in the future. this team definitely has some stuff to figure out. our injuries have caught up to us, true, but our problems run deeper, i think. i hope holland does something substantial. Guest Jeremy88 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 I honestly don't think we'll win this one. Our top 3 defensemen are out, and our only serious secondary scoring threat is injured. Yeah, we beat Colorado 4-0, but they're also in a bit of a slump. I think we'll play hard, but we'll come up short...Calgary wins 2-1 I love how everyone else predicted a huge win for Detroit, and I'm like one of the only people who predicted a loss... I know you guys love cheering for your hometown and supporting them, but you've got to start thinking with your brain, not with your heart. But eh...GO WINGS! Come on Kenny...this team desperatly needs secondary scoring.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Excuse me...but aren't you forgetting about Franzen & Sammy? I apologize....momentary slip of the brain.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 I LOVE your signature...Ozzie is a comedian...and I love him...IF I was a woman I would steal him from his wife...instead he is my goalie role model... Haha when I found this quote in the newspaper I could not stop laughing. He's amazing.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) Whatever happens at the deadline, at least we can look forward (hopefully) to have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Chelios, Cleary, (...forgetting anyone?!) back in time for the important games. We'll be a new team! : Hasek Edited February 23, 2008 by ShanahanMan
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Honestly without the wing colored glasses on blaming our forwards for under performing, I thought Kipper played a very "Top Notch Goalie ™" like game. A couple of posts and a whif or two aside Kipper had if not a great game then a VERY solid game. Frankly I don't see much to ***** about in the Wings effort other than Sammy. Too bad Average Ozzie let in one goal...he can't possibly be a Top Notch Goalie Like Kipper.... LMAO
Pskov Wings Fan 71 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 I think forwards played fine. But a lot of Wings offense depends on defenseman. Typically whenever Detroit forward is in trouble playing back to the blue line is a safe play and shots from the point generate a lot of second chances. I think young D-men were quite nervous. Ericsson has a 100mph shot but I can't remember him using it much. And Ozzie was very good.

We think it's a little bit of a fracture but it might be a pain tolerance thing." Babcock always undershoots it. Edited February 23, 2008 by jim3033

Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks Meech and Quincey were awful? or is my expectation too high? Probably a little too high, but yeah. Nothing to write home about. Quincey did have one solid shot that Kipper snagged with the glove hand.
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks Meech and Quincey were awful? or is my expectation too high? Yes...Meech had a few mistakes but other than that played well, Quincey had a few mistakes + 2 but played a pretty decent game...and yes expecting too much from a guy in the AHL all year and another on the bench all year... puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Or so Babs THINKS. Then again he thinks it's just a bruise. No one knows for sure. what does an aneurysm feel like? I think my head really is going to explode, if Cheli's leg is fractured. I don't think I like adversity. It's not nice.

freshy 181 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 I liked Meech's game right up until the last 2 minutes. He seemed to be moving the puck well and pushing the play. I didn't think Quincey played very sharp.
