haha :lol:he lost 7 years overnight!!!!!

CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- The injury-riddled Detroit Red Wings have lost defenseman Chris Chelios for an undetermined period because of a small bone chip in his right leg.

His playing status is day-to-day.

The 39-year-old Chelios, Detroit's oldest player, suffered the fibula injury in the first period of Friday's 1-0 loss at Calgary when he took a hard hit from Flames' defenseman Adrian Aucoin in the opening minutes.

"It's unfortunate when you lose your top four defensemen," teammate Kris Draper told the Detroit Free Press. "But it's a great opportunity for these younger kids to make a statement and show that they can play at this level."

Chelios joins fellow defensemen Nicklas Lidstrom (knee), Brian Rafalski (groin) and Niklas Kronwall (clavicle) on the team's injured list.

The struggling Red Wings have lost two in a row and eight of nine overall, but still lead the Western Conference's Central Division with 89 points to 72 for second-place Nashville.

I wouldn't normally feel inclined to comment.. but JESUS. With as much fun of Cheli as they make for him being "old", you'd think they'd be on the ball.

Though, what's to stop Chris Chelios from bending reality to reverse his age??

I read that article and didn't even catch that. Thanks for bringing it up. We need smiles where ever we can get them.

Maybe he did what I threatened to to when I hit 40 and started counting backwards.
