Creasemonkey--the baby in your avatar is soo beyond cute!

Thanks. That's my son, who's a month old today.

And someday I'll have to explain to him both of the reasons we have a "No Goal" bumper sticker, as his mother is a Sabres fan.

Is there any reason that the nets couldn't be designed to not allow puck back on the ice easily? I mean other than it being cheaper to make them drop basically vertically down (rather than drop them 15 feet further back with slack so the puck don't drop back)?

I'm calling the office tomorrow.

Problem solved. Take the nets down, shut the hell up and pay attention to the game. Are you there to shoot the s*** with your budy or watch a hockey game.

All goals should be reviewable, regardless of what the ref calls on the play. Period.

I though they already were! How many times do we hear commentators talk about the "war-room" in Toronto reviewing every goal around the league?

Wah, wah, whine, whine, cry, cry. Good God with all the bitching and moaning going on in here in feel like I'm either in a nursery or an old person's home. You all get up in arms about this like it's the end of the world. The league will address this, after last night's debacle. If they don't, then they deserve to be the laughing stock of professional sports. I just find it funny how upset you all get, and from all of the posts I've read about getting tickets and such, I don't think many of you put all that much money into the team. My parents have season tickets and were at the game last night. They spend thousands, and I do mean, thousands of dollars every year on the Wings/NHL. And they weren't half as mad as some of you people. They were upset at the bad call, but they also recognized that the Wings did not play that well to begin with. And for all of you who are going to say they must not care about the team that much then, they have had season tickets since they were the "Dead Things" in the early 1980s, we go to every single game, so we are not like those people with season tickets who have them and leave the seats empty, and they have spent a TON of money on this team over the years. Keeping things in perspective does not make you any less of a fan.

Either, add 3-4 ft in height to the net causing droop or sag at the top of the glass to catch the puck or more angle at the top of the net. In other words, angle the net more towards the crowd. I know it may impede on the vision, but it would solve this issue........or raise the height on the glass, beef up the stantions to withstand the shots...

:offtopic:

WTF does this have to do with the horrible call? Nobody is debating how much of a fan we are over this call. Spending more on the team doesn't make somebody "more of a fan".

Who the F cares that your parents have season tickets?

Do want to actually add something meaningful to this thread or are you just going to spout off about "they should've kept playing" (watch the replay again) or "wha wha "wha" whining.

Because we all know the amount of money you put in to being a fan of a team is the ultimate determining factor in what degree you should complain, rant, etc., etc., about something that happens that's obviously illegal.

Let me ask you: Do you count at all because you still suck from the Red Wing ticket teet of your parents?

You tell me how that actually matters.

Some of the posts in here amaze me sometimes...

Instead of riding you mama's coat tail to the game, tell us how much of YOUR money YOU have spent on the wings? Also this: The league will address this, after last night's debacle. If they don't, then they deserve to be the laughing stock of professional sports

is you bitching and whinning about the call. So take the silver spoon out of your mouth and if you don't like our bitching about our team, go cheer for the tigers. (which I suppos your mom and dad spend THOUSANDS on them too.)

If the referees didn't see the puck, fine. I can live with that. I may be playing armchair referee here, but when the puck goes way in the air, and it doesn't hit the glass/boards or anything, wouldn't you think or assume that is in the nettting/crowd or out of play?

The problem I have with this is that one of the refs clearly DID see the puck. He raised his whistle to his mouth to blow the play dead...then didn't. That's not missing the play, that's just inept officiating.

The nets are there for a reason, I certainly think they still should be up like that, even after last night's screw-up by the referees. Better safe than sorry for the fans. Just the mere fact or rule that that "goal" wasn't reveiwable is utter b.s.

lets give the fans in the end zones, upon arrival, only to be returned at the end of the game, catchers masks & ball gloves and bullet proof vests.....now we can rid of the nets!

Were they upset at Lidstrom's recent "no-goal" against Anaheim as well? What does spending money on tickets to games have to do with anything?

I might agree with you if it was about the 93rd thread ripping Holland or Lilja or Samuelsson or whomever else, but when it is something when something like this that is clearly obvious that it should have been reviewable immediately after it happened just baffles my mind.

There is not a whole lot to keep in perspective in terms of this play. It should have been discussed and overturned right after it happened.

I love playing devil's advocate. The responses you get are great. Do you think anything that I said in the other post(s) is even true? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Maybe I'm just ******* around because everyone takes stuff so seriously in here. The beautiful thing is, it's the Internet, so no one knows anything for sure. I may have never been to a Wings game in my life. I might not even live in the United States. Anything anyone says in here could all be bull s***, myself included. In fact, many of my previous posts in this topic were, just because I thought it would be funny to see how people reacted. If you consider all of my other posts in other threads, I think you will see that I am a serious Wings fan. Sometimes I just mess around, especially when I know everyone will be in an uproar about something. I resisted the temptation when the Wings goal was called back against the Ducks, but I decided why not with this. Yeah, I'm an ******* sometimes. I admit it. I was in this thread. Also, I could only be 14 years old. Would you really expect a 14-year-old to pay for his own season tickets?

If that's the case then, that referee is going to have a tough time calling the playoffs then I think (I'm assuming refs are judged throughout the season on performance and they dwindle down selections for the postseason)

They don't need to change the net or anything...they just need to officials to call the play dead if it hits the net...not change their mind when it looks like the team has a scorign chance.

The NHL head office should look at this play and do exactly what the NBA did when they messed up that foul call against Shaq. They made the teams replay the end of the game! Those are the kind of things the NHL needs to do when it obviously makes a mistake. They seem to have a HUGE ego and can't admit when they're wrong. Humility goes a long way in the eyes of the fan, when it comes to respecting a league. They should want to make it right anyway!
