Even though he isn't scoring goals, that is not what I ask of him even as a 2nd liner. As long as he isn't bringing the production of his linemates down as he used to. and i am serious too. Lilja should've been busy playing the body and clearing the crease instead of trying to swat the puck out of the air. but yes, the penalty was garbage. Lilja is a huge mope. I mean, every defenseman is gonna end up putting one in his own net eventually. Spend that much time in front of your own goalie, it's bound to happen. But he was angled towards his own net, then swats at the puck! The only way that would've worked is if he somehow managed to smack it directly down and trap it under his stick, stopping it's momentum. Which is pretty much never gonna happen. But with Lilja HE DOES IT EVERYGAME. Do they play tike or peewee hockey in Sweden? Thats where you learn as a d-man, dont try and hit the puck toward your goal .
