Pronger Has A Boo Boo

"It's pretty low, hitting a guy with a busted-up jaw or whatever," said Parros, who cited Eager and Blackhawks winger Rene Bourque as guilty parties, among others. "That's pretty classless, I'd say. There's a code of conduct out there, to some extent. You finish your checks on a guy. You don't ease up on him or anything like that, but extra shots or hands to the face, that's pretty low."

Want some cheese with that whine?

Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.

lmao! Thats really funny coming from a team full of guys like Pronger who always seem to take extra shots. I would say when Holmstrom got hit last year in the playoffs, that was an extra shot to the head!

Hmm...Pronger, eh? Well since his jaw bone is probably 3x the size of a normal human's, I don't really think he has anything to worry about. Also....you know...taste of his own medicine etc whatnot.

Parros took exception to Ben Eager going after Pronger, who I believe was playing in his first game since breaking his jaw and had a protective shield on.

Eager turtled of course.

Normally, I'd laugh this off as no biggie, but Ben Eager is possibly the biggest piece of garbage in the league, so I'm glad someone went after him.

"You expect to be protected out there, not only by the referees, but your teammates, and they did a great job," Pronger said. "George comes in and takes care of business, and we're able to kill off penalties like that. That's something that only makes us stronger and brings us together."

Just because it's Pronger doesn't mean it's right to do it to him. It's wrong for him to do to anyone---it's wrong for anyone to do to anyone. It has no place on the ice.

But, but -- it was physics, right?

Yeah, man seriously! Pronger's mandible is just so darn big and freakish that you can't really hit him at all without nailing it! Frankly, it's just as dangerous for the hitter as it is for him!

While I haven't seen video of the incident (and therefore can't judge how egregious the Eager/Pronger incident was), if you think that players don't go after areas were their opposition is nursing an injury then I've got a bridge to sell you.

It's been that way for a long, long time. The vast majority not as blatant as Eager's attempt, judging by the comments here.

In the post in question I was referring to the concept of it---that the fact it was Pronger to whom something negative is done doesn't make that negative act any more justifiable. Instead, it only lowers another player to his level.

I am aware that players deliberately attempt to injure other players. Pronger did get a bit of a lesson in the '02 playoffs---poetic justice sprinkled with a lot of karma.

I don't know why you brutes are condoning this unconscionable behavior toward one of the most upstanding and sportsmanlike players in hockey today. Pronger is the torch of the ideal to which all hockey players should be drawn. You would NEVER see him go after someone with an injury, or pick fights with players half his size, go after a skater's knee, or even get his elbow up on a check. You should be ashamed.

it was low when they went after him? is that right Parros?

do you mean low like disrespect, or low like Chris Pronger smashing Tomas Holmstrom's head into the boards or elbowing Dean McAmmond in the face a week later?

Last night's game made me realize that goons don't take abusing well and will self implode.

maybe we should deliver some cheap shots when refs aren't looking so they shoot themselves in the foot.
