Ain't Downey a farm boy himself..? :confused1::lol:

That would probably be how they knew each other. But I am also most likely completely wrong.

Downey seems like a good enough guy.

Probably, at first glance I just thought the "little farm boy" part sounded a little degrading but maybe he was just messing with Woywitka all in good fun.

"It's unfortunate what had to happen to Kopy, but I really don't think Jeff Woywitka had any intention of hurting Kopy because I know that kid, he's just a nice, little farm boy and he's soft as butter," Downey said.

That quote is great! Very colorful.

iLOL

Downey isn't soft as butter, Downey was saying that about Woywitka.

people often underestimate Downey's intelligence, he is INCREDIBLY calculated in EVERYTHING he says and does

Those comments were just another calculated response from Downey and yes, they were jabs against Woywitka, basically calling him weak and knowing that it will get back to him and hopefully entice him to go after Downey to prove himself next time they play... which is when Downey gets retribution - without drawing a penalty for instigating.

He just brings so much to the team and you can see how much more fearless they play when he's in - one of the greatest reasons we NEED him to stay on the active roster, well over Drake when Cleary returns... he never takes stupid penalties, knows when and where to pick his spots, stands up for team-mates like none other, always skates hard, is as honorable of an enforcer as there is in the league, can handle himself with anyone in the league and on top of it, he's not a defensive liability....

Maybe you misunderstood my post. My post was in response to RedFX who said "Soft as Butter?!? This guy's is supposed to be our enforcer?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE HELL MAN?" I was stating that Downey is not as soft as butter as I think Red was thinking this statement meant, but that he was actually just saying it about Woywitka. I didn't say anything about Downey's intelligence at all. I was just clearing things up for RedFX. Apparently I got it just about as clear as mud.

Believe me, I have been a big Downey endorser for a long time on this board, you won't get any arguments from me.

no, I understood what you said completely - my reply was in support of yours, just kinda adding on to it... it was in agreement with you - I know that usually when someone replies on this board, it's to argue something or say they're wrong, but I was actually agreeing with your original point, haha :thumbup:

I know, it's rare on here, haha :)

Are you referring to Downey?!? because if you are... he's gonna be 34 this year and has been in the league for almost 10 years... hardly a "kid"

so how do you know that DEVILSWATERBOY isn't like 50 or 60. that would make downey a kid still to him. so think before you post. :P

Yes, he is and he's not ashamed to admit it.

I laughed when he said that. I gotta love the guy - he's funny as hell, but he's got cojones to back up what he says.

I don't care if he is 100... Downey isn't an upstart rookie and regardless of age gap, once someone hits a certain point in their life and professional career, it is disrespectful to refer to them as a "kid" regardless of if they will hear it or not.
