Pronger at it again

I wish someone would punch him right in the adam's apple when he's unsuspecting, to show him a little taste of his own medicine.

He's like that bully in "A Christmas Story" who acts tougher than what he really is.

See, I don't really go for all that. I don't see stooping to Pronger's level as being the best way to teach the lesson.

In my perfect scenario, somebody who is a better fighter than him would simply KO him. Straight up fight, no cheap shots and BOOM!, he goes down in a heap Nick Kypreos style.

That's be just dandy with me.

It would have to be someone like Hudler, because those are the only types of guys that Pronger will fight. I don't see him ever throwing willingly with enforcers on a consistent basis.

So your propostion is noble, but under the circumstances, unrealistic.

damn straight, it needs to be a fair fight (highly unlikely since pronger wont drop em with anyone capable of knocking him out) embarrassment might be the only thing that will stop him.

id hate to see him get cheap shotted like the Steve Moore incident and completely vilify the "attacker" while giving sympathy to the "victim"

Absolutely ridiculous.

This thread makes me like Cleary even more. He's one of the few dudes to have the balls to fight pronger. And at a severe height and weight disadvantage.

Hopefully the league responds to this and at least suspends him or publicly says why they won't. They owe the fans at least that much.

Refs who won't call this s*** shouldn't get paid for the day's work. That's the only way this crap is going to get fixed.

TSN

There is a conspiracy, and Bob McKenzie's in on it. Considering the uproar on this board and in TSN's "Your Call" today, I'd call that overwhelmingly enough evidence to suspend. You can see it as plain as your hand in front of your face at noon. Usually McKenzie's the guy I'd turn to for the fairest and most unbiased opinion on hockey matters, but he's way off base on this one, and I'll bet he knows it. I've seen a "Your Call" for his column before. This time? Of course not. I doubt he could bear having another 300 people tell him how wrong he is, as he must have read all the comments from the original article.

I will guarantee exactly what Campbell will say about it: "video inconclusive", and I'll also bet that's what he told McKenzie to say to try and calm the masses. WE ALL SEE IT JUST FINE, COLON. I'm calling him Colon now because he's full of s***.

I don't think that Pronger would get as much sympathy as Moore, since everyone hates him.

The NHL isn't even a sport any more. It's sports entertainment just like the WWE. This is absolutely stunning.

(I wish this would have happened BEFORE Matt made the thread about not swearing because I've got a lot I'd like to really say)

Chris Pronger suspension history

• 1995: The league suspended Pronger, then with the St. Louis Blues, for four games after he hit Capitals forward Pat Peake in the throat with a stick during a Oct. 29 game at the Kiel Center. Brian Burke, the NHL's director of hockey operations at the time, held a hearing with Pronger, Blues GM and coach Mike Keenan, Pronger's agent and a NHL Players' Association rep. Peake suffered a fractured thyroid cartilage and was expected to miss four weeks at the time of the hit.

• 1998: Pronger, still with the Blues, was suspended for four games for slashing Phoenix's Jeremy Roenick on Dec. 17, 1998. Pronger drew a match penalty when he took a swing at Roenick's helmet. Colin Campbell, the NHL senior vice president and director of hockey operations, ruled that Pronger was attempting to injure Roenick in an "extremely reckless and dangerous manner."

• 2001: Pronger was suspended without pay for one game after leaving the bench and instigating a fight with the Kings' Kelly Buchberger during an Oct. 11, 2000 game. Blues winger Pavol Demitra suffered a broken nose when Buchberger hit him with an elbow during the second period. That hit provoked Pronger to leave the bench.

• 2002: Pronger received a two-game suspension without pay for cross-checking Stars forward Brenden Morrow in an April 3 game. The suspension cost Pronger $231,707.32 in salary. The cross-check left Morrow bleeding near one of his eyes. St. Louis beat Dallas 2-1 in overtime.

• 2004: Pronger, still with St. Louis, was suspended one game without pay for kicking Calgary's Ville Nieminen during a March 14 game. Pronger kicked Nieminen with 9:23 gone in the first period, but there was no penalty on the play. The suspension came as St. Louis was making a late push for the playoffs. The Blues were later ousted in the first round.

• 2007: Pronger, in his first postseason with the Ducks, was suspended one game for his hit on Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals on May 15. Pronger and Rob Niedermayer drove Holmstrom into the glass from behind midway through the second period. The hit knocked off Holmstrom's helmet and left him on the ice with a cut to his forehead. Holmstrom did return to the game. Niedermayer received a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct. Pronger was not penalized. Replays apparently showed Pronger hitting Holmstrom in the head with his elbows, leading the NHL to review the incident.

• 2007: Pronger was suspended one game for his blow to the head of Ottawa's Dean McAmmond in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals. McAmmond was struck as he skated with the puck toward the Ducks net. He did a spin, fell backward, struck his head on the ice, and slid into the corner in the Anaheim zone at 2:01 of the third period. McAmmond was briefly knocked out and left the ice looking woozy after several minutes of on-ice attention.

You know, everytime I see Pronger do something like this, I get so mad I wanna freak. Then I think about the time he tore his ACL trying to cream Stevie and I feel better.

BTW can someone find the video of that. I have tried, but cant seem to find it. I just want to see it again to make myself feel a little better about this. Thanks

Ya I'm posting this again because I am still pissed..

What makes me really sick about Pronger, is the NHL gives him such leeway to where he will do something worth being susepended, but not worth being penalized? Read his suspension list, how many of those plays was he allowed to finish the game unpenalized? It is disgusting how much this bastard gets away with. Why do they let him do this crap? Not to mention the things he does get suspended for if anyone else did it would be a much longer punishment.

McKenzie loves Pronger and the Ducks though, so I'm not terribly surprised at his column. He's just another cog in the conspiracy.

Seriously folks, the replay doesn't show much of anything, and what it does show is certainly not a suspendable action. If it were, Pronger would have been suspended. The suspension wouldn't have been nearly as long as Simon's 30 games, but a suspension would have been handed down nonetheless.

What? Because I see things without the "I hate Pronger" lenses?

What are you talking about? Can you honestly say he didnt deserve a suspension? You have got to be kidding, there is clear evidence, and the NHL F**KED up badly on this one. End of story.

I still remember watching a kings/ducks game this season back in november when pronger went after handzus a well known non fighter, at the very end of the game. Reminds me of how much i hate this guy. Can't wait too see someone destroy this goon.

Pronger went after him because he clearly shot the puck after the buzzer like a dumb a$$. That is one of those things you should never do.

Right. you shouldnt shoot the puck after the buzzer. But you also shouldnt stomp on somebodys leg with a skate, or throw up elbows with intent to injure on a check. Theres alot of things you "shouldnt do" but that FU*KER pronger does anyway. Getting let off with no punishment, or a measley slap on the wrist. Pathetic. I want someone to take him out, I dont want that useless peice of s*** in this game.

Chris Pronger has a long, well documented history of questionable on-ice behavior. He's repeatedly earned the complete lack of respect those of us that wear these "I hate Pronger" lenses have for him. There's no denying either that there's a history of him not getting the punishment he deserves for his offenses (4 games for swinging at a guy's head?). So yes, it seems as though you are either Brian Burke, Chris Pronger, or taking the contrary position just because nobody else is.
