Shaman 713 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 Am I the only one who loves this idea? if it stays like that, this would be great for detroit, a 100% chance that either dallas or Anaheim will be eliminated in what will be a long series with lots of cheap hits, chinsy penalties and dear i say triple overtimes? I thought maybe this would be a fun topic

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 The one reason I would potentially want this series, is because Dallas might be a team that can beat Anaheim, thus we wouldn't have to worry about playing the Ducks. Also, I'm not afraid of the Wings playing Dallas in the playoffs, so I'd love for them to advance.

redwings56 1 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 Any combination of the Ducks v Dallas or Sharks is good. As well as the Stars v Van or SJ v Van. I would like the Wings to play v the Avalanche, Wild, or Flames. NOT nashville and NOT vancouver. Nashville won't make it, at least it will be tough for that to happen, and Vancouver can't score but Luongo is rediculous and almost all games played against Detroit were tough, so imagine in the playoffs how much trapping that team will do and win it in 3 OT on a PP with Dom flopping. I dont like that idea. Dallas v Ducks would be great.
C-Dub 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 Dallas/Anaheim would be a great series. A taste of what's to come is on tonight. Should be a good game and they are still fighting for home-ice advantage.
detroitdan 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 I'd rather Ducks-Sharks too, but Ducks-Stars would still make me happy

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 Ya, but I kind of want to be the team to beat the Ducks, to be honest. Yeah I can see it now. Detroits winning 4-1 in the series clinching game against Anaheim...and by the time the game is over, Travis Moen has already picked a fight with Hudler, Cleary has gotten hit from behind by Rob Niedermayer, Marchant has taken out Franzen's knee, and Pronger has purposely reinacted the Zednik-Jokinen incident with Zetterberg. Yeah. No thanks.
kylee 727 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 i absolutely love the idea of a ducks and stars 1st round series. hopefully it goes 7 games and the stars edge out the ducks and they have 5 overtimes in the series.
Aeothe Kaear 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 The Stars are a paper tiger. The Ducks will eat them alive in the postseason. We should hope for Dallas to get their head out of their collective ass and win the division instead.
Vincanni 1 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 I love the idea of this being a first round match up just as much as I love the idea of the winner having to play San Jose assuming the third seed loses, which will most likely be an extremely valid possibility, granted we don't blow our dwindling league over San Jose currently. 12Newf 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 the ducks are gonna be involved in a first round bloodbath. dallas, minnesota or calgary will give them exactly what they want as far as old time hard hitting hockey and each of those teams stocks a hell of an agitator and some huge bodies. not to mention san jose who i think is the biggest team and would sure make things difficult on them. Dallas was one of the few teams beating Anaheim this season when no one else could. Granted the playoffs are a different beast, but Dallas' 5-1 record against Anaheim this season suggests they match up better than you think.

Granted the playoffs are a different beast, but Dallas' 5-1 record against Anaheim this season suggests they match up better than you think. They are a paper tiger in that they will once again put together a seemingly strong regular season and then promptly fold in the postseason, as per their usual arrangement. I don't care if they go 8-0 vs. Anaheim, the Ducks will kick their asses when it matters if they play head-to-head. I'd much rather see Anaheim draw the Sharks.
