I absolutely love games like this, but I am legitimately worried about some of our guys right now. Granted I think Hank could actually hold his own in a fight (i.e. not get hurt), I worry about some other guys. Datsyuk probably knows like jujitsu or something... He's too valuable to the team to get himself hurt over nothing, and besides -- he can out think them, he doesn't need to stoop to fighting. Yeah, the problem is nobody on that team is going to drop the gloves with Downey. Sure they will punch other players after the play but they know Downey will punch back and they don't want that. They epitomize the new NHL. They are all about silly cheap s*** after the whistle but when it comes to actually backing it up they don't want any of that. The way Nashville played in that second period was completely inexcusable and ridiculous. They're just a bunch of dirty, scummy players. I hate to generalize an entire team, but I think the adjectives work to describe just about every player in their line-up. The incessant harrassment of Red Wings players after every single whistle is childish and stupid. I want Aaron Downey on the ice as much as possible in the third period, to prevent those assholes from taking runs at Zetterberg and Datsyuk. We just need to be careful that nobody gets hurt. I'm worried that Tootoo or Hamhuis will do something completely uncalled for and injure one of our guys for no apparent reason, just to keep up appearances. I seem to remember your crush going to fight Roy and making a spectacular flying snow angel as he tripped. Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 (edited) Boy it sure would be nice to see some scraps in the 3rd!!! Hopefully the Preds dont close the gap to 1 as that tends to quiet things down. Hamhuis needs to get beatdown, but he's a non fighter himself so this is moreso Drake's territory. Downey's on Tootoo and Weber watch and at this point cant afford to get the boot the way things are going (which he would as Hamhuis wouldnt fight back..) I'll bet you that Downey sees the ice once, maybe twice, total in the 3rd period. Unless the Wings are flat out blowing away their opponent, Downey never plays past the 2nd period.
