Guest Hank=FutureCaptain Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I get a huge thrill out of watching those games. I was downstairs in my house back home going crazy that night. Those were such good times. This clip also reminds me of the days when the Joe could be deafening. To this day I try and be as loud and supportive as I can. Just like I did back then. For some reason over the past 11 years we've acquired a lot of quiet fans. Either that or the loud ones haven't been able to afford to go as often. All I know is, I've started several chants over the past 3-4 seasons. And that NEVER happened 10 years ago. Cause the building was always electric.

Without ever having been there during the playoffs, I think that is a product of the situation. I remember watching the 02 finals and when Shanny put that empty netter home my TV speakers couldn't cope with the noise. I'm pretty sure if we dispose of Anaheim in this years WCF that the Joe will be just as loud. But great vid, and that shot of Roy on his knees when Feds scored......priceless

I'm pretty sure if we dispose of Anaheim in this years WCF that the Joe will be just as loud. But great vid, and that shot of Roy on his knees when Feds scored......priceless Exactly, I completely agree. Aside from last year's playoffs, there really hasn't been that much of a reason for the Joe to go crazy lately. I was at one of the games at home against Anaheim last year in the WCF (Game 2) and it was pretty crazy. Not like the clip in this thread crazy, but still, it was loud, and I bet it would have been to that level if it had been a game we had a chance to eliminate the Ducks in and not just Game 2 (not that all games in the playoffs aren't important). That video was great though. I was 12 when that happened and my parents were supposed to go to that game but my mom got sick and I went with my dad instead. It was so awesome and exciting. I remember when Shanny put that empty netter in, everyone was jumping up and down, hugging, crying, you just knew we were going to win the Cup then, at least that's how it felt. Being 12, it seemed amazing to me that we were actually going to eliminate the mighty Avs, and the invincible Patrick Roy. I honestly have goosebumps right now thinking about it. McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 It's funny watching and realizing all of the penalties that would be called in today's game; the hooking, holding, interference penalties. I miss the old NHL...

FinWing 26 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Sweet clip Crymson, thanks for posting. Man the Joe was LOUD! I remember watching those games in the middle of the night as a kid and my mom was wondering what the hell I was doing. Maybe, just maybe, we'll get a rematch this season and pump some new life into the rivalry.

Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) If you think we miss those days, think how the Avs fans must feel! Speaking of feeling, this game brings back the pure hatred for Colorado. f*** you Roy. Sure, I respected them, even feared them, but what assholes. Nothing beats them seeing crying over losing it to Detroit. Was LaPoint a clutch playoff scorer or what? Why isn't anyone crying to bring HIM back! Poor Philly, amazing they thought they even had a chance after this one. Edited April 1, 2008 by LivingtheDream

South Dakota wings fan 7 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 Oh man that was great. I loved NHL on ESPN. I can't wait for the playoffs this year, it'll be my first time seeing it live :octo: Seeing that video really made me miss listening to Gary Thorne and Bill Clement call a game. I think Versus is getting better, but can Doc Emrick stop saying stuff like "two and three quarters minutes remaining in the period" Honestly, who talks like that?! In all my 27 years on this earth, I have never heard anybody say, "I'll be right there, just give me three quarters of a minute." Sorry, just a little rant.
