Rice 42 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Your link isn't working but yes, Lidstrom is a shoo-in for the Norris.
Guest Hank=FutureCaptain Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Your link isn't working but yes, Lidstrom is a shoo-in for the Norris. I second that. There is no doubt about it...and your link doesn't work.
Red Winged 8 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 yep. no doubt.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Yes. There is not a single defenseman in the league that can combine the offensive ability and defensive ability that Lidstrom brings on a nightly basis. He can shut down the best forwards in the league, and his point production, leadership, and many other qualities solidify him winning his 3rd straight Norris Trophy. Superman54 91 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 If lids doesn't win it then we can officialy say the NHL is rigged
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Yeah, Lidstrom is 99.9% sure to win it. Much like a lawyer and a court case though, it can never be guaranteed. I'm pretty sure it will be Lidstrom winning it with Gonchar and Phaneuf as the runner-ups.
cirov19 1 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Rhetorical question? There is no reason he WOULDN'T win the Norris. He has the best everything defensively.

BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 na i say pronger or nieds gets it ............. hahahah ya lids is gonna get it and he should. With Nieds playing in the all star game, I really wouldn't be too surprised if he did get Norris consideration.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted April 2, 2008 There doesn't seem to be any doubt amongst anyone that Lidstrom'll win again.
Nero 20 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 (edited) If lids doesn't win it then we can officialy say the NHL is rigged I think it was already made official when the NHL reviewed the Pronger incident only after a better view was released to the public.. because they didn't have 360 degree angles of it already Edited April 2, 2008 by Nero
akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 the right question is: is there a defenseman in this league who remotely deserves Lidstrom Trophy ahead of Nick? highly doubtful
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Absolutely. No dman in the league even comes close.

I'm pretty sure it will be Lidstrom winning it with Gonchar and Phaneuf as the runner-ups. I like these runner-ups, though they still don't come close. Last year, he actually had competition. This year, there is no peer alongside Lidstrom, at least in consistency. He's been THAT good this year.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 If Pronger wins it, I will stop watching hockey and switch to badmitton! This has been Pronger's worst season in ten years, maybe more. The top five defensemen in the league this season are Lidstrom, Zubov, Rafalski, Phaneuf, and Chara. The next group includes Redden, Kaberle, Schneider, Kronwall, Pronger, Campbell, Meszaros, Gonchar, Corvo, Keith, and Aucoin. Other defensemen who have had strong seasons that have gone relatively unnoticed are Craig Rivet and Pavel Kubina. Some major disappointments include Francois Beauchemin, Matt Carle, Barret Jackman, and Dick Tarnstrom. All four of those guys have provided much less at each end than was expected of them. Scott Niedermayer is another who can fall into the last category; one of his worst seasons for PPG, and for +/-. Understandable, but disappointing

Both guys have had pretty good years and Montreal wouldn't be where they are without those 2, especially Markov.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Any reason you left Andrei Markov and Mark Streit off of your list? Both guys have had pretty good years and Montreal wouldn't be where they are without those 2, especially Markov. It was not intended as an all-inclusive list. Just enough names to show why Pronger won't get a sniff of Norris this year, or at the very least shouldn't. He's been the third best d-man on his team if you count Scotty N...and Niedermayer is the only D-man on the Ducks who has played well enough to crack the Wings' top three. That doesn't even include guys like Phaneuf, Chara, Zubov etc...who should make a strong run at a nomination.
