redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) We have some options at forward for our Game 1 lineup, because of the injuries. I'll break it down: In for sure: Zetterberg Datsyuk Holmstrom Cleary Franzen Filppula Hudler Draper Out for sure: Kopeckey Maltby Doubtful: Samuelsson That means we have 4 spots for: Drake McCarty Hartigan Abdelkader Helm Meech (at forward) Downey So, who do you put in? I'd go with McCarty, Drake, Abdelkader, Hartigan. I love Downey's toughness but he just wont be able to keep up in the playoffs. McCarty brings too much of an X factor in my opinion to leave out. I want Hartigan's and Abdelkader's speed and I think Abdelkader will play hard as ever since he grew up a Red Wings fan. That is my lineup, what is yours? digitaljohn88 4 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) Now that McCarty got an assist, I predict he will be an unstoppable offensive force. I'd say McCarty should center the first line, and we don't really even need to bother thinking about the rest. Edited April 8, 2008 by digitaljohn88

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen (Mule is hot lately, roll with it) Cleary-Filppula-Holmstrom Drake-Draper-McCarty (call them the "Are you Experienced?" line, sit Mac when Maltby's back) Abdelkader-Hudler-Downey Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Chelios-Meech Osgood Hasek If only I were the coach. I like those top 3 lines. Lilja and Lebda would sit, or maybe try the whole "d-man as forward" experiment with Lebda instead of Meech, in which case Abdelkader sits. Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Cleary-Filppula-Frazen Drake-Draper-McCarty Abdelkader-Hudler-Downey Atleast at first you have to go with a good power line, a strong 2nd line (hence why i believe Frazen would be best for it), a good checking line (cant hate McCarty on that) and then Hudler and Abdelkader make a great energy line with Downey there to stir stuff up. McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 With Tootoo playing against us, I want Downey in the lineup. I love DMac, but I don't think he'd stand a chance against Tootoo in a bout. I'd prefer to see Downey against him. With him in, Tootoo won't be able to get as feisty.

We don't want him getting a bad call at the wrong time I hate to break it to you but neither does Hartigan, Helm or Abdelkader. Basically, one or two guys with very little playoff experience will be playing Thursday.

rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 i understand that, but downey is more explosive Good point, and I agree. But Downey's a good team guy and for the most part has proven he can play an effective role on this team. This is my rational for who plays: MaCarty = X factor like someone stated. Too much potential to pass up. Hartigan = semi-hot lately. might chip in a goal. Downey = At least for game 1. Nashville's PP was terrible in the regular season. So a bad penalty shouldn't be a concern. Drake = Obvious choice. I'd love to see Abdelkader or Helm play, because I like the idea of a young guy emptying the tank all over Nashville's defence. But I can't see either of them starting the series. But who knows.
