Your possible first round upsets?

Well i only see two upsets coming.

Rangers over the Devils

Philly over the Caps. This one will bum me out a little bit. I really want to see AO make it far in the playoffs and i would be thrilled to see him knock Sid the Kid out of the playoffs.

Although it's unfathomable to many, I can easily see Dallas taking out Anaheim in the first round. Against Anaheim this season, Dallas went 5-2-1, and all three losses were by one goal. I think it's really up to Turco, and I hope he can pull it off.

true but the ducks are a much better team now than they were at the start of the year - the stars won the first 3 matches before neidermayer and selanne returned. i can see the games being close as the ducks just don't score that many goals but over a 7 game series i think they will wear the stars down.

the most likely upsets IMO are the avs over the wild, the flyers over the caps and the rangers over the devils. though i am not sure you could really classify the latter 2 as "upsets".

Can you really say Nashville over Detroit is an upset if so many people are calling it? From what I've been reading/hearing, it will be an upset if Detroit wins this series. So my possible first round upsets...

Detroit

Colorado

Philadelphia

New York

Where are you hearing this? Every prediction I've seen has Detroit winning in no more than 6.

Why wouldn't that be an upset? I thought the Wild beat out the Avs for the Northwest Divsion title... wait yup, yes they did. I really do not get why everyone on here think that the Wild suck.

Anyways, my only upset in the first round is the Rangers over the Devils.

Being an Avs fan i think it will be an upset, I don't have a good feeling about this one, especially because of the boring trap the Wild play and the Avs frankly haven't done crap against Backstrom everytime he's been in net. I do hope the Avs win because I'd love another Wings Avs series (its just been too long since these teams have met in the playoffs).

honestly... expect no love should this happen but I'm definitely pulling

for such series :) that would be our "Back to the future" but could be

an outstanding series :)

even more that it'd mean Ducks/Stars having to play Sharks. which is

another dream come true :)

If Calgary beats SJ in the first, they'll easily beat the Wild in the second.

technically speaking this matchup is not possible

it's either Ducks/Stars or Wings should Flames advance to second

My bracket is:

DET 4-1 NSH

SJ 4-3 CGY

COL 4-2 MIN

ANA 4-1 DAL

BOS 4-3 MTL

OTT 4-2 PIT

PHI 4-1 WSH

NJ 4-2 NYR

So I guess the upsets are Colorado in 6 over Minnesota, Boston in 7 over Montreal, Ottawa over Pittsburgh in 6, and technically Philly is the lower seed but they will still blow by Washington in 5.

- Avs over Wild... I think they could do it.

- Stars over Ducks, more of a wishful thinking but a first round exit is what these guys deserve, especially how dirty they have been known to play.

- Bruins over Habs? Probably not, but man Boston vs. Montreal playoff series can get very intense and tables can be turned.

- I wont say Calgary over the Sharks because I think thats a bit too much... But I would like The Sharks to play the Ducks if possible, and also for Detroit to play them in the conference finals, just so we can beat them again and let everyone know who's the best team in the West.

- Oh, I almost forgot. Rangers over Devils.
