zaxx 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Wow was I pissed today, I get home put supper on and sit back to watch the hockey game only to find out that TSN decided that the Masters golf was more important than the fricking NHL playoffs!! This is the first freaking round of the masters, who cares about the last hour and a bit I pay for TSN to watch hockey not slow calm golf. The Masters started at 3, and they weren't intending on it lasting longer than 4 hours, but it did unfortunately. I can't see this mishap happening again. Did they honestly think that Detroit expected to just beat the s*** out of Nashville every single game? I honestly expect games in this series to be almost as tight as any other series in the playoffs. We have a lot of trouble against teams like the Preds, so we know its gonna be a real tough battle. But TSN still tries to play it off like the Wings should still be worried because we didn't win this game 10-0. I'm just waiting for Pierre and his 2 (retarded) cents. I was pissed off but happy at that point... ...and to top it off, when we were switching from that to the Habs game, I put it on TSN and it was showing one golfer drinking from his powerade bottle....yeah, much better than playoff hockey. The stupid thing was, the Golf Channel was showing the Masters as well. It made no sense to me that two different stations had to show the same sporting event, especially this time of year, and that it was ONLY the opening day of the Masters. NHL Playoffs (regardless of the team) is far more important than the stupid first round of golf. I also sent them an e-mail thanking them for their crappy programming. Buggers. Even if it is shown on the alternate TSN feed they should have a scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen during golf that informs viewers of this programming change. This contract actually dates back to before TSN even had playoff hockey airing on their network. Still, it's stupid to play the opening round of the Masters on the main channel when opening playoffs are about to start. Put the Masters on the secondary channel. Man do I hate golf. I was wondering 'what if this was Montreal - Boston game and they screwed up like tonight, boy there is going to be another riot in Montreal right now.' BTW I can tell you if it was Wings, not sharks, who lost to Flames in opening game, TSN would be all over how Wings are soft euros. Instead they go onto say oh Sharks will win the series because they have too much character... CHARACTER? are you kidding me? what have Sharks done in playoff in their entire existence? oh i get it it's because they have more Canadians.. that must be it. Run the GOLF on the alternate channel and gives us the game in HD. The same program could also be found on GOLF channel. Also, forget the fact that the HD was compressed and looked like crap, that's another story. 'Thank you for emailing TSN regarding coverage of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs. It is TSN policy to never leave a live event in progress. The Masters Tournament was delayed earlier in the day due to fog and therefore ran longer than scheduled. Immediately following the conclusion of the golf event, TSN joined in progress the NHL Playoffs: Game 1 – Nashville @ Detroit at 8:15 p.m. ET with 13 minutes remaining in the second period. Anticipating the golf might run long and in an effort to bring viewers live coverage of the start of the NHL game, we quickly arranged for the entire Nashville/Detroit match-up to air live on the TSN alternate feed. Prior to the start of the NHL game, TSN’s James Duthie appeared on the TSN main network to alert viewers of these programming changes. We also ran a scroll at the bottom of the screen that appeared every five minutes with the updated program information. As soon as the golf ended, we joined the hockey match-up as Duthie welcomed viewers and informed them of what had transpired so far in the game.' zaxx 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2008 They did it again today! Only this time on the alternate feed they had scheduled the NJ/NYR game. Since they could not interrupt fricking golf they did not show the second hockey game and instead opted for golf on primary feed and washington / philly game on the alternate feed. These guys are completely stupid and wasting our time with the early rounds of the masters taking prescendence over the NHL playoffs. If a Canadian TV chanel cannot figure out how to show hockey no wonder the American channels choose not to show the NHL (as much as inthe past) Well I have complaints about the CBC at least they show the games they claim to when they claim to....
