WQF Game 3 (4/14) GDT: Predators 5, Red Wings 3

Good PK by Detroit so far. Need to kick up the discipline a bit more, the referees may be lynched if they don't favor Nashville; so the referees will be watching close

Period #2:

- Dom needs to continue being a brick wall.

- Need to shoot a bit more. Filppula needs to shoot period.

- Make Nashville cry.

Lets go Red Wings!

I just need to say something about Hasek.

I've had my doubts all season, but man! The guy was born for playoffs. Even in years that he lost, has he ever performed poorly in the playoffs? I'm so glad we have him. The guy has natural talent and he just gets better the more important the game.

oh jeez, cheerleaders...

Great kill, Wings... very deflating for Nashville to be shut down on that opportunity.

Loo your boy is playing so solid. What have you been doing to him ;)

another catfish giving its life....imagine bringing that thing into the rink...like, ouch

What's the story behind the catfish anyways? Is it just a lame attempt to mimic Detroit's octopi or is there some sort of meaning behind throwing a catfish on the ice?

Means Tootoo is on the ice

Heh- reminds the Wings not to turn their back or lose track of where that dirty little turd is.

So anyone else think the commercial with Iggy talking about 45s shifts in the playoffs was really, really, really good?

I will concur wholeheartedly. I'll admit that I wasn't happy with Dom this season and I was nervous to see if that inconsistent regular season play would carry over into the playoffs.

It didn't.

He's in rare playoff form once again. This is the time of the year he lives for and he's showing it.

And I find it funny in that Gatorade commercial with Crosby that they make some big deal of him scoring on TOSKALA of all people. What, Dan Cloutier was busy? :P

That was a dandy period. We didn't let Nashville get much of anything going, and Hasek stopped them whenever they had somebothing resembling a chance. I still think the power play needs to be better if we ultimately want to succeed past the first round, but that can be worked on.

Great for Kris Draper. It always makes me happy to see guys like him score big playoff goals, and this was no different. A great shot, a great play by Hudler. Good stuff.

I would still like to see any extra shift or two a period for the McCarty/Drake/Hartigan line. They seem to create chances every time out on the ice. Perhaps replace Hartigan with Draper or Hudler for a bit and see what happens.

Overall, though, very nice stuff. They were calm, controlled and steady. And, when you're playing a playoff road game, that's all you really need.

Hasek has been great, but I thought last year he tired out as the playoffs went on. We need to finish this series quick, to get him and everyone else more rest.

Sooooooo, is Dom still too old now TSN? I'll have to wait and see.

I ain't saying he played bad at all, but he hasn't exactly been tested much thus far. Pretty basic stuff and he bobbled one at that. Nashville's not exactly a scoring machine after all...

And for that matter, I wouldn't say this was the most successful period for the Wings in general. We took some stupid penalties too and had some shaky plays. I'm betting Nashville's going to come out hard in the 2nd and it's going to take a better effort than that of the 1st to keep up. This is make it or break it for the Preds. They're down by 1 with two periods left and if they win, they're back in the series with the next game at home plus momentum. I don't think these next two periods will be easy at all. Then again, if we get another goal early, I may change my mind...

Nice period we had.

Now, I am still waiting for my Dmac vs. TooToo fight. *crosses fingers*

A fight won't help at this point. If anything it would get Nashville going. The Wings are ahead and controlling, but the game could easily slip to Nashville's favor. BEst thing for the Wings to do is keep playing steady hockey, and if Nashville takes an liberties hit back.
