hallelujahlogic 1 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I'm firmly of the opinion that Marty Brodeur can choose to shake or not shake whoever's hands he wants. Brodeur is a living legend and one of the alltime greats, meanwhile Avery is a scum-of-the-earth ass clown who somehow, not of his own efforts, gets played off as the lovable villain. Get serious. Granted, Avery is a marginally talented player with the ability to have an impact, but that's not what he's gonna be remembered for. He's gonna be remembered as that hockey player who represents everything that is wrong with humanity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the hugest Brodeur proponent, but I think that he has every right to give Avery the metaphoric "*$%& You!". I don't think every player has earned the right to write his own ticket like that, but if only a few players have, Brodeur is sure as hell one of them. F*ck Avery! Go Wings! qft!! haha, i snubbed avery once. it was during the lockout, i was at cheli's in dearborn, and my dad and i were walking out and avery and cheli were walking in. my dad and i got cheli's autograph and just sort of ignored avery. cheli even said "hey and this is sean avery" or something to that effect. but we were in a hurry, and my dad didn't even know who he was. Look how loved Shanny is by wings fans... he went above and beyond the sleeping with his wives sister. Anywho... I like brody and Avery(now!) Brody was the one who didn't look even like he attempted to shake Averys hand... Avery at least looked at Brody and got no reaction from him and he moved on. That's all I have ever viewed Avery's antics as: doing whatever it takes to win. I have to say, from the video it appeared that Avery looked at Marty and Marty looked past Avery, so I would chalk that up as an attempt on Avery's part and a failure on Marty's part. Yzerman191 37 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I'm actually surprised people are making such a big deal out of this. My initial thought on the subject was, "Can anyone blame him?" I watched the video, and I agree that it looked pretty mutual. These guys have been battling it out like crazy all series long, and quite frankly, they must hate each other's guts (like Chelios and Bertuzzi in '02). I'm also a little baffled at those playing it off like Brodeur is a classless scumbag and Avery is an angel. Is this the same Sean Avery that shouts profanities at every opportunity? The same Sean Avery that taunted Theo Fleury about his problems with alcoholism? The same Sean Avery that has been known to spout off racial slurs? I'm not a fan of either of them, but Brodeur's level of class is head and shoulders above Avery's IMO. And on a side note, people should pay little attention to what these guys (professional athletes) do off the ice. That's their personal life, and I think it should stay that way. I find it amazing that Avery thought that was appropriate! Now Avery's goal a few seconds after? That was just poor defense on the Devils' part and now they go golfing. Our Goalie doesn't have to fight his own battles. I guarantee if he tries some bush league crap like this on our team someone beats the hell out of him.
