He should be on the first line period!

Why put all your eggs in one basket? Putting Franzen on the first line just lessens the Wings' scoring depth. Granted Zetterberg is cold right now, but he'll come around (knock on wood).

Anyway, I'll say it again: where are all the people who were talking about how useless Franzen was? Time for some crow.

I've been meaning to say that for awhile. Where are all the people that was all "Trade Franzen. He does nothing. He's useless. When is he gonna play to his potential. Bla bla bla."

I disagree. The reason I think the other lines kinda are short on scoring is they continuely put together less the stellar combos.

Homer on the second line may spark Cleary and Val. Everyone can score, they just need to find that perfect ratio. Franzen has been more effective even strength with the Twins then Homer has been. Homer is most effective when the shots come from the point, and that happens most often on the PP and on the lower lines. Zetter and Pavel don't usually shoot from that far out.

Sammy and Cleary do, as does Drapes and Darren.

Honestly the way Darren has been shooting better then everyone, just throwing it on the net but not dead on the Goaltender, I would give him some second line time to see what would come of it.

I don't know about that..maybe Franzen = Drury... :D

Sorry I have a HUGE Drury bias, being that he's from my hometown.

Hahaha Ya, you're prob right, I'm a Drury fan too. If Franzen keeps this up though he can be Detroit's "Mr.Clutch".

the thing is.... hes great and he works his ass off.... but not only that he's technically an amazing player. I couldnt stop watching his goal (mainly because if you watch the bench flood the ice, Cheli and Lids just give each other a look as if to say.... "Job done") it was technically perfect!

plus.... i agree about the yell face!!!

Funny, I said that exact thing about a month ago. Even suggested playing Everything Zen by Bush when he scores.

It got shot down.

Is it time yet for me to make a thread where everyone can take turns saying I was right from day one about this kid?

He should be on the first line period!

He is out working everyone on the ice. I love to see him go into the corners and fight for the puck, he doesn't just take the puck away like Pavel, he has to scrap.

Please.

You're hardly the Wings' chief scout. Many, many, many people have been aware of Franzen's skill and poise before you. Many.

Why is it that you constantly need validation? Quality posters are recognized without their own calls for recognition.

That's a ridiculous statement. Yea sure, Mac is shooting better than Pavel and Hank. Second Line. Whatever...

Franzen has been playing great since March. You can't compare that to Drury who has been very good his entire career. Nothing against the Mule but consistancy is the word in the NHL and it's too early to make such a comparison. Franzen may be playing better than Drury is now. That's a different story...

Insert Donkey Sound Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha the irony of this picture. Brad Stuart, the guy whos team got hosed last time Franzen scored a playoff OT winner, is the first one into the mix!!

Stuart: *sniff* "It just feels so good to be on a winning team.."

Ok, I'll be the very first to admit that I missed the boat on Franzen early on. I was just never impressed, and once he started coming on, I didn't think he could sustain it. Ironically, I was the same way about Homer a few years back.

Big props to both of them for proving me (very) wrong.

I love Homer and his game these days, and if Franzen keeps making me look the fool for doubting him, I just may change my citizenship to Sweden.
