gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 What a nice turnaround that series was. Gotta say hats off to Dan Ellis and the Predators for keeping it tight and playing hard. Gotta love finishing this one up though now. We'll take a few days off here and hopefully work out some of the kinks and get Zetterberg going again. Hopefully Stuart can either rest up a bit or get his head straight as well for the next round. And hats off to Osgood for surrendering just 1 goal to the Preds and shutting the door today early. You couldn't ask for better goaltending out of him especially coming off the bench. And it'll be great to have Maltby back next round!!!

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Yea....its classy to cheer on your team even if they get eliminated. If this was the Philly crowd, they'd be throwing beer and poop onto the ice. you speak the truth. Props to the Nashville fans. Even so, I am glad to see the last of their team. Great effort from some individuals on the Preds squad, never the less! Ellis has a very bright future. If he can hold off the Red Wings in a playoff series like he did, he can succeed in the regular season, for sure.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Hard fought game. Anyone doubting the uselessness (not to mention homerism) of hit totals need look no further than this game for proof. The Preds were badly outhitting the Wings according to the official totals (22-14 last I saw), but the Wings physically dominated the Predators. The Wings were the vastly superior team, but Dan Ellis (and some shaky Wings goaltending early in the series) made things appear closer than they really were. My hat's off to the Predators, especially Dan Ellis, and the Nashville fans for showing up big time. On to round two! GO WINGS!!!!!! Agreed. If they hang onto Ellis, they may just continue some success.

Yep, once again for Ellis and definitely gotta give those Nashville fans credit for keeping it loud. As a fan of hockey, they were fun to watch and hear. Good stuff. Outstanding, clutch performance by the Wings. Nashville left it all on the ice, but the Wings outshot them 43-20 on the road with a chance to close it out. And we were right: the Wings couldn't be that dominant again and score only 1 regulation goal!

barabbas16 499 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Wow up 2-0 in a series clinching game and the majority of the posts here are slamming Sammy, you guys really need ot straighten out some of you priorities. Sammy's not a star, stop treating him like he's suppose to be. He's blowing just about every offensive chance he's had and it's been his weakest game of his series but at least his mistakes aren't costing us goals. I totally agree. I didn't even have to look and I knew the posts would be that way. Everybody makes mistakes...it's just Sammy's are over-scrutinized by almost everyone on this board. STFU and enjoy the win. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 LOL at the 3 stars picks (by the Nashville Media, no less) 1. Lidstrom 2. Ellis 3. Legwand Um, Ozzie, maybe?? No??
DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Great play by our 4th line, great play by everyone! Go Wings! Out of the 1st round. Anyone else notice Ozzie mess up in his interview? He said he would have loved to play last year when we played Edmonton. That was 2 years ago Chris
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Looks like my Lids jersey is holding the luck. Question for those superstitious types among us though... Assuming we don't sweep our way through the rest of the playoffs, I'm going to have to change my jersey again eventually. The only other active roster player I have right now (not counting a too-small Osgood jersey) is Hasek and, unfortunately (sorry loo ), I don't think that one'll be good luck. So I have Hull, Yzerman and Shanny. However, my Zetts and D-Mac jerseys have also been washed since the losses, so the bad luck may have been washed out of them. Any suggestions? And I'm totally serious about this.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 And even though he didn't have to make any spectacular saves, he saved them all. OZZIE! OZZIE! OZZIE! I give Flip a pass for his guided missile in Game 5, but he missed 4 or 5 empty nets this series. I'm glad the Wings got control of their constant turnovers inside the zone, I was sick of saying "WTF was that?" three times every period. Kronner = Vladi 2.0 Dallas Drake was brought here for the playoffs. Hudler, I try to hate you, but then you do something brilliant and completely redeem yourself! Yep, I was so glad to hear how loud they were for their team even after being eliminated. It's a beautiful thing sometimes in sports when you can look back after a series like this and be able to give a team like Nashvile and their fans their due without such a bad taste in your mouth. My advice, if you must take off the Lids sweater, is to be a man and squeeze into the Ozzie sweater!
