YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Goals of the Participants of the Game As GM: Your goal is to maintain/rebuild/improve your team through free agency and trading. If you are interested in a Free Agent, you should Personal Message (PM) the agent of the player you are interested in. The agents for several players are listed below. If you are interested in trading for a player, you should PM the GM of the team which the player plays on. ALL NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN AGENTS/GMS AND BETWEEN TWO GMS SHOULD BE DONE THROUGH PERSONAL MESSAGING. Keep in mind that although you may be a Red Wings fan, you should have your clients or team in your best interest. (That means you have to keep in mind that a guy like Mikael Samuelsson DOES have some value to teams who are in need of scoring depth, for example.)As Agent: Your goal is to get the best contract for your player and put him in the best situation. You should keep in mind what his needs and wants are as a player. For example, if Jose Theodore wants a starting job as goaltender, as an agent you´d give those GMs offering Theodore a position as starter over those who are offering him a position as backup behind a sure-fire starter. You should also keep in mind negotiating bonuses for your player and also the well-being for your player. If your player is unhappy during the season, it is your job to approach the GM about a possible trade for your player, if the situation isn´t dealt with. Like GMs, If an agent has a client who is interested in playing for a certain team, he should contact the GM of the team through personal mesasaging, or can send out a PM to all NHL GMs telling them what his agents interests or demands are.NHL Advisory Committee (AC): The members of the advisory committee must review all trades and free agent signings. If ONE member of the group has a legitimate concern with one of the trades of signings, he should take it up with the other memebers of the Advisory Committee (AC). For example, should Ottawa decide to trade Jason Spezza to Detroit for Tomas Kopecky and a 7th round pick, this trade won´t be allowed. Likewise, if Brian Campbell is signed to a 3 year contract that only pays him 1.2M per year, it can´t be concerend a legitimate signing due to its extreme unlikeliness. This is to ensure that fellow GMs or GMs and Agents aren´t collaborating with one another in a way that would give them an unfair advantage over other players in the game. If there is some disagreement among AC members as to whether or not a trade or signing is legitimate, it will be taken to a vote. Also, if there is a player without an agent that a GM would like to hold negotiations with, he must do so with at least TWO members of the Advisory Committee to ensure fairness of negotations. . The Advisory Committee also has the power to fire GMs, but this will only be used in extreme circumstances, if at all, and can only happen in the case of a unanimous vote of AC members.Rules 1. Players cannot assume the position of both GM and Agent. Players can however act as a member of the Advisory Committee as well a GM/agent. 2. If you decide to quit your job as GM/agent/Advisor, you must find a replacement before resigning and you must notify the Advisory Committee of the change. 3. GMs can appoint ONE assistant GM to the team. 4. Agents MUST represent AT LEAST 9 players. No more than 4 can be superstar players. 5. You must start out using the currrent rosters of all NHL teams. Two-way contracted players and prospects are included. Please use NHLnumbers.com or NHLscap.com for reference. 6. There will be no fantasy draft. The actual draft outcome will be used. 7. The Cap will be 56 million and every team can spend to the max.How the Game is Played As of now, the game will be played over 2 seasons. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 Is it like EHM? If so I'm down for GMing. Toronto or Dallas. Its exactly like EHM, without the simulation games. For those wondering, the point of the game is simply to adjust your roster according to actual player performances. For example, if you have Ray Emery on your team, how are you going to move him? What if Marleau starts slouching in the playoffs again? What if Dion Phaneuf goes down with a season ending injury? In theory, you can´t win the game. The point is simply to see if you can do the job of GM or agent. Given how much people like to think they´d be able to put together winning teams and get players to sign better contracts, itd be interesting to see if we´re actually capable of that. As for being an agent of players, yes you can choose any players, as long as they aren´t all superstars (only up to 2 can be big name players a la Heatley, Lidstrom, Vinny, Crosby, etc)

Hank Dats 'N Homer 81 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) I dont fully understand the game as of yet, so i would like to throw my hat in the ring for two positions. Once i understand the game better ill chose which i would like to do. GM (im not sure whats taken and whats not, so in this order) 1)Stars 2)Flames 3)Boston 4)Canes I know you cant be a GM and an Agent, but i am going to put my name in for both and once i get more info il chose which one i want to be as long as thats cool with everyone else. Superstar: Heatley Superstar: Vinny Midlevel: Paul Stastny Midlevel: Mike Ribeiro Journeyman: Roenick (if he stays) if not than Nolan (im not great at ranking who is superstar midlevel, so if there is a problem with any of that just let me know.) Again im going to try and learn more rules abotu the game and than ill make my decision. Edited April 28, 2008 by Hank Dats 'N Homer
