Samuelsson Doubtful for Game 4?

If he doesn't play, would this make him the softest player in the league?

Probably not, if he doens't play, I would think it was for other reasons (concussion maybe?)

Agreed. I'll probably re-watch the game tonight from the Forsberg High-Stick through the remainder of Sammy's PT and see if I can notice anything. I'd be very willing to bet if he doesn't play, it'll be due to not necessarily a full on concussion, but concussion-like symptoms.

BTW, I'm not sure if you were trying to insinuate anything with your initial comment, but never once did I (or have I) questioned Sammy's toughness.

Hopefully he can play because this lineup we have been using hasn't lost since Lebda came in for Lilja. On the other hand if he can't play we have guys who can come in and fill the gap!

Can't speak for toby, but for a big man, people would like him to use his body more and more effectively when he does.

Anyway, it would give Maltby a spot on the roster. Maltby does play well in the playoffs.

Also, to puckbags: we lost Game 4. And we had another roster change: Lilja came in for Stuart.

But that has nothing to do with questioning his toughness in regards to actually playing the game. How he plays it is a whole other discussion.

True, but it would also completely change the chemistry of the Wings. Let's just say that Sammy isn't a "Go" tomorrow night. Now, all of a sudden I would assume Cleary would be inserted on the second line and Malts would take his spot on the shutdown line with Drapes and Drake. While Cleary-Filppula-Franzen sounds dynamite, the chemistry of the second line right now is not something that I would like to mess with given that they've won the past 5 games with pretty much the same lineup up front.

What a huge hole to fill if he is out, he almost hit the net last night, it's hard to replace players like that.

I'll bite!!!

Let's see, he set up Frazen's first goal in the hat trick game.

His forechecking led to Franzen's goal last night.

But sure all he does is fire pucks wide!

Yeah, those two assists he had last night weren't important at all. ;)

Of course Sammy is far from the best shooter, but he's been great on his line this round. How can anyone not see that?

his tooth also helped wings get on the powerplay and score:)

Hudler should take Sammy's spot on the 2nd line. He and Flip have good chemistry together.

You make it sound like he made a pass somewhat like Zubov's pass to Modano in game 2 against the Sharks.

Sammy's assists occurred because he just happens to be on the ice when Franzen is playing out of his mind, and his stick touched the puck before Franzen got it. His shooting, on the other hand, has gotten to the point where he can't even hit the goalie's crest anymore. All his shots are being blocked by defensemen, or they go wide.

Nah, Hudler's good where he is atm...

Cleary would step up if Sammy couldn't play i'd expect

But haven't played together in a while. What makes you think that chemistry will automatically pick up where you feel its left off.

No I didn't. You're reading way to in to things if you feel my post in any way compared Samuelsson's assists last night to the gorgeous back-handed pass Zubov pulled off.

Are you seriously going to start splitting hairs like that? There have plenty of cases where everyone on this site has given credit to players for secondary assists that fall under the example you just gave. The point is, that line is clicking right now, the Wings have won 5 straight games, so why in hell would anyone want to change whats working?

And that doesn't cover the fact that his forecheck is what set up the Franzen goal, he was the only Forechecker left in the zone, he caused the Turnover, Kronner got the puck, and Mule made a great play on what looked like a bouncing puck (s***TY Ice yet again).

But certain people, GMR included (no disrespect meant man, we have gone round and round on this issue) will not ever credit Sammy for anything he does well. Just like during last years post season when Lang got all the s*** even though he scored the OT goal!

No that wasn't important. It was because everything Franzen touches goes in. He doesn't need the support of 4 players around him to bury any goals.

[/sarcasm]

BTW, that wasn't a shot at the Mule, because he's been beyond incredible this postseason, but there are other players that have been part of the reason he's buried this many goals, just like with any other player. That being said, no one is hotter than he is right now.

Sidenote: Speaking of which, I remember when someone started a thread in the offseason asking for funny pictures of Lang. I posted a "funny" picture of Lang saving the Wings series against San Jose in Game 4. Some people just tend to be sheep. If they see the masses ripping on someone, they follow right along.
