Stastny out for series; Smyth doubtful for Game 4

Quick update from Colorado's practice: Coach Joel Quenneville said forward Paul Stastny, who hurt his knee in the first period of Game 3 Tuesday, is unlikely to return for the series. Ryan Smyth (foot) didn't skate and is listed as doubtful for Game 4 tomorrow.

Peter Forsberg (groin) also didn't skate. Quenneville said he was "getting checked out'' and will hopefully play in Game 4.

Colorado is really banged up and this was a some what clean series until last night. Too many high sticks and slashes....

Keep all these guys out and the flow of the game will not be altered. This guy guy is really hurting his team more than helping out.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if *Quenneville* "got checked out" to see if he could give it a go tomorrow against Detroit.

He certainly hasn't had any luck coaching against Detroit in the playoffs, perhaps he can as a player.

further update from the Red Wing Corner:

That Avs aren't getting any good news as far as their health.

Coach Joel Quenneville said after Wednesday's practice that Paul Stastny is "probably unlikely for this series", Ryan Smyth is "doubtful for tomorrow" and Peter Forsberg is "being checked out (medically) as well". Forsberg did not practice today. He did on Monday.

Jose Theodore will start in net again for the Avs in Thursday's Game 4.

since it looks like Dallas will finish things up tonight, I say the Wings should win game 4, because if we both sweep, the WCF could start Sunday/Monday.

Don't they have to wait for the East to finish, especially if the Canadiens and Flyers go 7 games?

Must have tweaked his knee diving, did Zetterberg happen to brush up against him ever so slightly prior to the injury?

Probably not. The third round can't start until everybody is done with the second. At least one series could go until Monday or Tuesday which means the 3rd round won't likely start until Wednesday or Thursday.

"jose theodore will be starting in net for game 4"

well. the goose is cooked.

(and realize that im stating this for the sake of argument and no way does colorado have an ice cubes chance in hell of turning things around, BUT) the ONE chance they had at making history by coming back from 3-0 has now been dashed. starting theodore AGAIN might be the single worst coaches decision ever made since i can remember paying attention to sports. come on. something is obviously needed to jump start a team that is, well, f***ed. and a change in net might give the home town fans something to cheer for and possibly one last victory before being dismantled in game 5. but no. if i were an avs fan i would be livid.

that being said, nothing brings me more joy than watching my wings be the avs. so if you would like to run your organization into the ground quinney, keep up the good work!

it just baffles me that budaj hasn't been the started since game 3...
