GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 I've been awake now since 8, and have posted here several times today, but only now did I realize that we still have to play Dallas tomorrow. From reading some of the other topics and things being posted here today, it appears that many people have forgotten it also, and share my confusion. I understand that you have to win 4 games to win a series, but it still feels anti-climactic that we should play them again, since everyone is already looking towards the finals and Dallas looks finished. The game tomorrow just seems like some ritual that must be done even though it makes no sense to have to do it. Can't the league just step in and call this game off? I think Dallas wouldn't mind, especially after what happened to the divealanche in game 4 of that series.

marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 All I can say is I'm glad the Wings won't be going into the game tomorrow night with the frame of mind many of their fans have. If they go into that game tomorrow thinking this series is over, then they'll be in for a long night. The fourth is always hardest to win, especially on the road. I'm nopt saying Dallas has much of a chance at winning the series now, I'm just saying that they aren't just gonna roll over and die like the Av's did either. The Wings need to play this game as if it is a game 7, then rest up for the finals. Nothing is over until that 4th game is won.

They saw how SJ came back to bring it to 4OTs in their game 6 and know it's not impossible (just improbable) With that said, I'm looking forward to tomorrow night! Either Wings finish them off and rest up or I'll be going to the Joe on Saturday! It's really Win-Win situation for me
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 The 4th game is always the easiest to win for the Red Wings. Just try to remember the last time we didn't. And ask Colorado just how hard it was for the Wings to win the 4th game in their last series. Dallas is done, and all they can try to do is prolong the inevitable. Yemack 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 One of the biggest anticlimatic moment was second intermission of Game 4 in Avs series. However just imagine if Stars do manage to win next game. They will believe they can win another one. So we are just asking for a trouble if we don't finish them off next game. Also it looks like Penguins will sweep the flyers in 4 as well and we all know how important rest is between the series.. god I read so many quotes from coahes and players recently, I start talking in cliches myself. Anyway Wings have to be very careful because Stars are very capable of delivering counter punch and things can slip out of our hands before we know it. If anything we need our best focus tomorrow when we deliver the killing blow.

I'm just saying, and I'm not the only one who feels this way, that it appears to everyone that the series is over, and only until a few hours ago did I realize that there's still at least 1 more game officially to be played. It just feels kind of weird.

Graybeard 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 It looked to me like they threw everything they had at us through the first two periods last night and by the third they knew this series was over and gave up. At this point the sweep may be likely but we're not out of the woods yet. I'm not going to be a naysayer like so many pessimists saying it's not over because for all practical purposes, it is. The main thing the boys need to worry about now is injuries. We don't need to be going into a series against the Pens with one of our star players being injured. They better keep their heads up at all times and have eyes in the back of their heads looking for shots coming from behind and after the whistles.

Are you saying that the league should just give the Red Wings the win and call the series over? If so, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. I'm guessing I am misunderstanding what you are saying or else I honestly don't know why you think the league should just cancel the game and end the series. Why would Dallas just want to give up on the series too just because Colorado got destroyed?

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 :nonono: Sorry OP, but I hate threads like this. All it takes is one win to give a team confidence. Had SJ found a way to bury a goal in one of the OT periods of Game 6 we might be playing them right now even though they were down 3-0 as well.

Had SJ found a way to bury a goal in one of the OT periods of Game 6 we might be playing them right now even though they were down 3-0 as well. San Jose played harder and better and their series than what Dallas is doing in this one. That was a different story. My post just had to do with the fact that many, mysefl included, think the series is already over, and that many of the posts I saw today made me wonder whether anyone even remembers that there's yet another game to be played against Dallas. For instance, there's already a thread going about our matchup potential against the Penguins, and how others think we'll do against them. It just feels anti-climactic after last night's game. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 God, we are getting WAY too cocky. Sure there's a 90% chance that Dallas is done, EVENTUALLY. But they can still do some damage. Let's hope the Wings don't sit back and let their momentum fade. We need to keep going strong into the Finals.

We've won 9 straight games, and I can never remember seeing that kind of playoff domination from the Wings. It's supposed to be difficult to progress through each series, and this series along with the last one have been runaway jokes.

I hear your point, but IMO the original post comes off a little arrogant even though I would think you don't mean it to be that way. I don't think what any of us post can affect the outcome of the games, unless Lidstrom is cruising through LGW, and he decides to heed by my advice and take it easy tomorrow. The post doesn't tempt fate in any way. I guess I do feel pretty arrogant, though, the way the team is playing right now. I can't help it, it's so fun to watch. I just want this series to be over instead of having to look at the Stars' faces for one more game. I'm not, however, saying that we've already won the Cup, since I think the Penguins will be a tough matchup for us. I remember in 1995 the Wings coasted through the playoffs, and got embarrased in the Finals, thus ruining that entire season. I wouldn't want to see that again. Let's hope the Wings don't sit back and let their momentum fade. We need to keep going strong into the Finals. One thing doesn't REALLY have anything to do with the other. I don't think Babcock is going to let them lose focus easily. I also don't think we are going to win game 4. WE really need to beat Dallas one more time in front of the home crowd...for those who have tickets and all...
