55fan 5,133 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 I have a better idea. If the game goes long, tape the horserace, and play it back during the next intermission. We have the technology.
Wingnut7781 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 No matter what time it is played. I'm screwed. I have to go out of town for a b-day party with the future in-laws at 3. I tried the "I can't go, the cup changes everything". But that didn't fly. So we are leaving extra early so I can catch at least part of the game without interuption at the local BW3's. Let's hope for some better officiating. Go Wings!
marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 NHL Live is reporting that if the games goes longer than three... That is if you guys get lucky enough to be tied with the best team in the south then NBC Detroit and Dallas stations will carry the game to the end. All other NBC stations across the country will switch to the damn Horse race. So breathe easy you will the chance to see the second step towards history for the Stars! GO STARS! Oh and like the site BTW. Yup it's gonna be a glorious history of Turco losing his 10th regulation game in the Joe. I can't wait!!!

I also tried the "can't come into work boss, the cup changes everything" but that doesnt work too well.
HOCKEY MATTERS 167 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Either way I am proud of the way my Stars played this post season. Nothing can take that away from them, they were supposed to be out a long time ago but heart and will kept them in it. If they don't survive tomorrow then so be it. But Turco is freaking due in the Joe, and what better stage then game 5 of the WCF with the Stars back's against the wall. I see Zetterburg being planted in the boards and on a liquid diet for a month. And Holmstrom will get Marty's stick up his ass and broke off. Good luck Wings... GO STARS! Welcome to the board. Nice to have sane posters form opposing teams here. Poke a little good natured fun = o.k. with me. I share you attitude; the Wings were not supposed to do much this year according to early analysists (cuz they all have crystal balls that are never wrong). The Stars have had a great season and truly deserve to be in the WCF, and are a worthy opponent. Nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs but I have a feeling this is the last game of this series. Good luck to Y'all. Oh, Turdco should forget about the stick up Homer's ass....he really likes the feeling and plays better with lumber in the posterior. GO WINGS! GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 From NHL.com Stars-Wings NBC contingency plan for May 17th May 16, 2008, 2:12 PM EDT NEW YORK - The contingency plan for Saturday's 1:30 p.m. ET DAL@DET NBC broadcast is as follows: If the game goes into overtime, the local Dallas and Detroit NBC affiliates will stay with the game until it's conclusion In markets outside Dallas and Detroit, the game will shift from NBC to VERSUS after completion of the 1st OT There are some markets that may pre-empt the game but at this time we don't know the alternative channel plans. What do you mean after the 1st OT? The game might not even go into the 2nd OT. Why can't they just shift to Versus after the 1st OT begins? America treats hockey like s***. America treats hockey like s***. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. according to the OP: They just said on NHL Live that if the game goes more than 4 periods that they would switch over to Versus and also NBC.com and NHL.com. This isn't what the one you quoted said, but apparently if it goes past the 1st OT, then they switch. Sucks for us out of the Dallas & Detroit areas with no VS, but I'm confident we will pull it out in regulation.

I guess we all have Gary Bettman to thank for this occasion.
