Nev 1,085 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 My wife and I just had our second child late last night. Unfortunately, I will have to sell my tickets and watch from the hospital room. If the Wings don't pull it off tonight, they will have a real tough time winning game 7. If we can shut down Turco's outlet passes and get one quick and early, we can put them away. Lets see a hand shake tonight, I don't want to see one at the Joe. Go WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! Meanwhile Wings MUST score first. Dallas getting the lead has proved a real problem the last 2 games. Night shift for me tonight, so internet radio. See you at midnight.
IrishWing19 6 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 From the morning skate and Red Wings Corner "Here are the lines that the Red Wings are practicing with this morning. Note that Valtteri Filppula is not on the ice, but will be in the game. Filppula hasn't practiced in the past week and Mark Hartigan subs in for him at practice. Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Hudler-Hartigan (for Filppula)-Cleary Drake-Draper-Samuelsson Maltby-Helm-McCarty Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Meech-Chelios Lebda-Lilja At this point, I honestly don't know whether Meech-Chelios or Lebda-Lilja are the third defense pairing. We'll find out at Coach Babcock's press conference." http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/
BigWinston 15 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Whoever scores first wins... Couldn't agree more. Both Wings and No-Stars are better at keeping a lead than chasing one. Just hope its Detroit!

Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Congrats, servo!!!! Babs is on the same page, so I thought I'd reiterate: "Guys, we directed 58 shots at the net yesterday," Babcock said. "They directed 28. Let's not make things bigger than they are or smaller than they are. We had clear-cut opportunities that didn't hit the net. That's being too fine. Pound it off the goalie and shoot the rebound in the net." Go Wings!

We'll find out at Coach Babcock's press conference." I'd at least give Babcock the for having some guts if he actually puts Lilja - Lebda on the ice. Chelios has been super unimpressive this series and looks more like a liability than a contributor. Everytime I see 24 and 22 on the ice I cringe...75% because Cheli doesn't play well in his own end and 25% because Lebda is VERY agressive carrying the puck at times and I can just see a Stars player stripping the puck with nobody but slow-bow Cheli to beat to a breakaway... I've been cringing every time I see the 4th line hit the ice, I know Hudler scored in the last game, but I always felt they were about as likely to give one up as to score one. Quite like it now with Maltby there, good skater and good in his own end, himself and Helm hassling the Dallas D will be interesting to watch. Turnovers will be key, and they have the ability to create some.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Wow, I cant believe Babcock is going to turn to Lilja AGAIN. The guy flat out sucks, is an idiot, turnovers, penalties bad on the PK. Cool he can block shots, that isnt enough to get him in the line-up. I'd rather see Meech, Quincey or Ericsson in over ******* Lilja. Not feeling great about this game anymore, Ozzie is gonna have to think about 1998 when he shut the door against Dallas in Game 6.

You have seen Lilja play correct? You want to talk about turnovers while carrying the puck... I'm glad Selanne doesnt play for Dallas. Besides, Chelios is 10 times the PKer Lilja is, and without Cheli in, Lilja becomes PKer #2. Bad decision if it happens, even if the forward line up changes are pretty good. Must Kill 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 to me tonight is our game 7 we need to put dallas were they belong, and thats the golf course. Their isnt any excuses why this series wasnt ended yet, we had plenty of chances and couldn't put them away. To me what a better way to send dallas packing, well i guess really not that far back. You get the point though GO WINGS

The Door Man 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Lilja = Penalties/Turn-overs Why don't you people see this? I agree entirely. He is such a liability. He just gets abused out there, we saw it in his short time on the ice in the Colorado series. He is so easily exposed, I am NEVER comfortable with him in the lineup. In regards to scoring first, obviously it's huge. But what I see as perhaps being more important is that the Wings need to be either tied or ahead after each period. We can come back from a 1-0 deficit just fine (just need to seize the momentum after tying it at 1), but starting a period down is tough. I know we have had extremely talented teams in the past that have underachieved, but this is one of the very few times, if not the only time, I've ever believed a team had the ability to just "flip the switch" and turn it on. It's a battle of the minds right now, and with their backs against the wall, this team needs to respond with urgency and desperation. I'm confident, but cautious. The saddest part is that wasnt even Lilja, that was the Pain Train. Who made one huge mistake and ruined himself. Now we just have Lilja, hopefully he gets treated like an enforcer and only plays 8-10 minutes tonight.
Firehawk 305 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 I am nervous as hell for this game. Not so much because they're a great opponent, but I guess because anything can happen. They've had some big breaks the last couple games, but we had plenty of our own for 9 straight games.
