WCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

What we need tonight is to get back to what we do best. We need traffic in front of the net (lookin' at you Homer!) we need to just put the puck on the net. Don't look for a shot - just take it. If we're playing our style, we'll have someone there to bang in that rebound. Turco was giving 'em up left and right at the Joe on Saturday. He keeps playing like he can get away with that, and we can turn this into game 4 against Colorado.

Dallas effectively shut down Hank/Dats together, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing them split up. Give some of the secondary guys someone to work with and see what happens. Worst case scenario is - that doesn't work and we go to a game 7.

Detroit needs to remember, despite the fact Dallas won 2 in a row, they KNOW they can't back off the gas yet. They're still in a must-win situation and are going to play that way. We have to come out hungrier, and if we can do that.. then we'll start prepping for Crosby and the Pens.

Show no Mercy - Leave no Doubt!

With all the negativity lately, and all the talk of changing things, I got to thinking "what would really mess with Dallas' heads?"

This is not serious. We would not win doing this. It would be fun to watch. Imagine the following scenario from the perspective of the Dallas players and coaches.

Starting lineup:

Grind line

Lids/Raf

Hasek

About 10 seconds into the first period, Mac comes out, Kronner comes in. The d-men play forward, and the forwards play D. (Positions assigned previously.) Switch players one at a time. Each player leaving the ice lets the oncoming player know which position he is playing. Switch the goalies at every opportunity.

So, at any given moment, you could have something like:

Helm/Cheli/Hank

Cleary/Lebda

Ozzie

or perhaps:

Stuie/Homer/Flip

Mac/Drake

Hasek

If a guy ends up in his normal position, so be it.

Then in the second period, start

ZDH

Lids/Raf

Hasek

Bring in players in their normal positions, but whenever the C or senior A on the ice yells "octopus!" the center stays in position, but the wings and d-men switch (or switch back). Keep switching goalies.

Third period, start with a normal lineup and Ozzie in goal. Play like we have all season with no weird stuff at all.

Like I said, this is not serious, but it could be fun to watch the Dallas bench.

I've been waiting forever to see this page updaged with that # 12 up at the top. I really really really really really really really really really want a win tonight.

Get the first goal, shut up the Texas crowd. We really need traffic in front of Turco, otherwise I can see him making 38 saves again...

I've switched to my Zata jersey for tonight. The Lids jersey blew two in a row after its 9-game winning streak. I don't want to see a Game 7

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. My 1998 Osgood Away jersey is seeming to me like it's run it's course. I haven't washed it or anything, but I took it with me when I went to Dallas for game 4 and I think I jinxed the damn thing. Might be time to switch to my McCarty or my old time standby, my 1997 Home Red Lapointe jersey. He's no longer with the team, but it's the spirit of the thing, ya know?

Go Wings!!!

We need to follow the Penguins example of how to close out a freaking series, but more important than anything we need to score first. So far this has shaped every game in this series.

If he's 38 out of 43 at the end of the game, that's fine by me. :)

My wife and I just had our second child late last night. Unfortunately, I will have to sell my tickets and watch from the hospital room.

If the Wings don't pull it off tonight, they will have a real tough time winning game 7.

If we can shut down Turco's outlet passes and get one quick and early, we can put them away.

Lets see a hand shake tonight, I don't want to see one at the Joe.

Go WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They aren't even coming close to it! someone needs to take for the team and actually plaster one on a player... thats going to be the only way one of them is going to touch it

Do Versus and Versus HD have the same schedule? Cause I'm trying to put DVR for recording of a game and can't find it on regular Versus and I don't have Versus HD. WTF?

Don't see us winning in Dallas again, especially after our pathetic effort in the last games

Please prove me wrong. Let's go Red Wings!

Hey, if you need some positive thinking, there was no way we would win the first game we lost, it was the 10th game in a 9 game winning streak. We never win those.

Likewise, after two piss poor performances, historically this season the Wings bounce back pretty good in their 3rd or 4th games of a mini-losing streak.

CONGRATS!!! Boy or girl - hopefully the name has some sort of Red Wings good luck affiliation! LOL :baby:

Start that kid out right with a Game 6 WIN to move on to the Stanley Cup Finals!
