Anomalously 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 The powerplay. Plain and simple. We go to the box like we did against Dallas in Game 6, and the Penguins will put it in the net more than once. The Penguins speed will ensure that they get some chances, boneheaded plays by defensemen will give them too many. The Wings have to be disciplined. Five-on-five I think it's advantage Wings. I don't think goaltending, defense, (combining the two and adding that we have like three-and-a-half checking lines) team defense, special teams, or physicality are problems for the Wings. At all. Osgood is steady, our top four are great, our powerplay and penalty kill, not a problem [as long as we have as many chances as the Pens]. We just have to make sure we can score goals with our teeth, off of rebounds, and off of a stick that isn't Z or Datsyuk's.

Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 If Mule's back AND he is still playing the way he was against Colorado, our secondary scoring will be fine. If he's not back, Filppula and Cleary will need to play much better than they did so far.
Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 I chose our biggest weakness as secondary scoring, not necessarily because its a major problem, but because the other options certainly aren't weaknesses for us. Truth of the matter is we really don't have any glaring weaknesses... HOWEVER, it has been shown our secondary scoring definitely suffers when we lose an important player. Their biggest strength is undoubtedly going to be their PP.. if we give them plenty of opportunities they WILL capitalize. Im not worried about their centers, we can match up pound for pound vs those.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 The Pens have - BY FAR - the scariest offense we've seen yet. These other teams look like complete schmucks up against what Pittsburgh's got. On the flip side, Pittsburgh has yet to see a team where all five skaters play excellent defense at all times like the Wings do.
WunderfulWorldOFOzzie 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 Yes i would have to agree with scoring from other players, besides Zetters and Dats , because im quite sure they will try to isolate them ..That being said scoring from Cleary and others to take pressure off our top sticks . Any word on if Franzen is gonna play ...? At any rate im sure our puck possession game and experience will take us the distance. GO WINGS ...

Nev 1,085 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 Far and away my biggest concern is the 2nd line matchup. I totally expect our top5 to outplay the Crosby line, but even with Franzenstein back, their 2nd line of Malkin-Sykora-Malone is far better than anything we can put together.
