Just saw this too, this is funny funny s***!!!!

Yep, you gotta love it. As soon as I saw the breaking news on denverpost.com, I knew it would be the perfect day to cash in on my free lunch from a friend (Avs fan) who bet me that the Wings wouldn't make the Stanley Cup Finals. It's going to be a glorious lunch indeed.

Aaaaand he just e-mailed me, "Looking forward to lunch, though probably not as much as you. Feel free to throw as much s***-talking my way as possible, the Avs certainly deserve it. Let's also chat about how the Avs will probably offer Theodore another $6mil."

Wow, talk about a circus. This is worse than the Hasek, Legacy, Cujo, Osgood fascicle we had some years ago.

...And Denver will self destruct in 4....3....2.....1.........

I love this

“Tony has gained tremendous coaching experience over the last five seasons behind the Avalanche bench,” general manager Francois Giguere said.

Because being an assistant to a moron for 5 years has made him so much smarter than he was.

:rotflmao:

Worst possible choice! With guys like Wilson et al out there they stay with Granato? :o The best thing for the Avs about Q leaving was that he would take Granato with him out the door. The only way this makes sense is that he is interim until they find someone better - and pretty much anyone is better.

I was even thinking of buying a 14 game plan package - but now I don't know if I can stomach looking at that idiot behind the bench!!

he also has Playstation at home and does a lot practice in line juggling.

let's not be so tough on him. he really gained a lot of experience this way

It's funny but I thought that this might happen. He seemed to be a clear-cut leader on the bench. The argument with Babcock after Lids got railed may have won him a few more points with ownership.

now bring back the long-time Av Ray Bourque whose jersey is hanging in Pepsi

and go for the cup. honestly, you can do this...

and Uwe Krupp also..

Giguere must be smoking something or got some "GM-ing for dummies" book

which shows Holland as example, making Francois think he's smart and

know what the thing is about...

He seemed to be a clear-cut leader on the bench.

You think so? The year he was fired, I thought Rick Tocchet seemed to be undermining his authority. You'd routinely see the two arguing behind the bench when the Avs were struggling, and to me it looked like Granato was overmatched and didn't have control of the team. But I'll defer to the Avs fans, who I'm sure had a better feel for the situation following the team much closer than I did.

I think they did this so that they can fire him half-way through the season when the Avs are struggling. This way they're not really losing anyone important to them yet they can "shake up" their team cause they know they are in for a long season next year. Maybe they think that firing Granato will have more effect than hiring him. I'm sure they don't see him as a long term solution but maybe as more of a sacrificial lamb for next year if things don't go well. I'm surprised that they would recycle him so soon after firing him. I don't see them as a powerhouse anyways next year regardless of who their coach is.
