I think it depends how mucht hey impact the organization. I think our staff From Nill, Devellano, Holland, etc. Deserves rings, I think our scouts do too. Without Andersson who knows if we would have gotten Z or Pavs or even Lidstrom. The wings brainstrust plays an integral role in our success.

If I remember correctly scouts do gets their name on the cup. I believe the last time I looked at the cup I think Hakan Andersson and Mark Howe's names were on it. Whether Scotty fits the bill remains to be seen. But keep in mind we still need to win it first before we decide who gets on the cup. :)

He would definitely get a ring. I know a guy who works for the team as a statistician, and he showed me his ring from '98. I'm pretty sure everyone in the organization gets a ring. Whether he would get his name on the cup or not, I doubt it.

Last to request was the Wings with Konstantinov, I think, so it's pretty rare. They could request Scotty's name on it, though.

My first impulse was no. But now that you bring it up......maybe a decent question. Rings aren't assigned based on names on the cup necessarily.

1998 Stanley Cup note:

Detroit had 55 names engraved on the Stanley Cup. All 29 Non-players got their full first and last name on the Stanley Cup, without any positions. The 26 players were engraved by first intital and full last name. The bottom line is blank and could include more names. The NHL decided to limit the number of names to 52, because too many names were being engraved on it. Any person who played at least 40 regular season games for winning team (and with the team after the trading deadline), or played in the Stanley Cup Finals must be included. Teams may include other players, or non-playing members on the cup as well. There is no rule for which non-playing members are to be included on the Stanley Cup each year.

--- So if the Red Wings organization wants Bowman's name on the cup then it will be there.

If so and assuming he got one in 91' for being the Pens player development director, he'll need either a toe ring or an extra finger to wear them all 1 to a digit.

Al Sobotka should get one !!!!

 dead on!

I don't think Scotty's name goes on. honestly, does he really need to be

there yet again? as if there were people who he had to convince he has

an idea what hockey is about?

Al Sobotka on the other hand... :D

If they give a ring to *everyone* in the organisation, that a lot of $$$ for Ilitch to pay out - I mean, do even the girls in the ticket office get a ring?

Still, that's what classy organisations do - I remember when Man Utd were in the Champions League final in '99, they hired a 747 and flew EVERY club employee to Barcelona for the game.
