SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

The Pens CAN'T hang with us. We saw that in game 1. 7 shots in 40 minutes with the offense they have?!!

The best that they can hope for is to get some lucky bounces and maybe win a game or 2. Another gift of a called back goal would also help them.

But they are not going to beat us 4 of the next 6 tries. I think that psychologically, there is a little voice in the back of their heads telling them that they are screwed. Throw Frazen back in tonight and they really have got to be worried. If we crush them again tonight, the series is over. We have them down big time. Tonight we just need to finish the job.

Oh yes they can. You act like they're the Kings or Blue Jackets. Remember Dallas making everyone have a cow?

I think the Wings are the better team. But I don't think there's that little voice in the back of their heads telling the Pens they're screwed. That's not how professionals behave. They came in here supremely confident. Probably overconfident. You really think they're so fragile that one game shattered that confidence? That's insulting to our opponents.

Penguins 15, Red Wings 3

Penguins forward Sidney Crosby, on his 3 favorite movies: "Cry Baby, Boys Don't Cry and The Crying Game."

Red Wings forward Johan Franzen is cleared to play despite a near-setbackearlier in the day. "My head fell off during the morning skate, but the doctors sewed it back on and say I'm ready to go."

Penguins coach Michel Therrien spent his Sunday evening in Greektown in Detroit. Questions about Therrien's frame of mind arose when he nearly set the Pens dressing room on fire, showing the team how his waiter served him flaming cheese and shouting "OPA!"

AHAHAHA. That Franzen is a warrior.

As it's been said already, we need a strong, 60 minute effort. This is not the time to start getting lazy. Force Pittsburgh to play the way we want them to play... badly ;)

Let's go Red Wings!

That's how 20 year olds who never have been to the big dance behave. I think that their confidence is shaken but probably not completely shattered. I'm sure that they are telling themselves that they just had a bad game but they also realize that this is going to be much harder than they thought.

Confidence and experience are HUGE in the game of hockey and right now we have lots of both and they lost some of the confidence on Saturday. Coming out of Saturday our confidence went up and theirs took a big hit.

And no, I still don't think that they can hang with us. The one thing that they may have had an advantage over us was their scoring from multiple lines. We proved that we can completly shut that down and on top of that added the league leader in scoring to our second line.

I'm not saying this about their whole careers or even the rest of the series but after one game here is what we have learned so far.

Zetterberg > Crosby (Of course we didn't win, not enough bad calls in our favor!)

Datsyuk >>>> Malkin (Datsyuk only made me look like his ***** cause practice is long and I'm tired!)

Osgood > Fleury (Damn that ice is slippery, but really youth beats experience every time!)

Lidstrom > Everybody (even with a couple weak calls against him)

Babcock >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Captain Panic!! (omg they just scored on us, WTF do I do??!!)

From Crosby's presser today:

Q. At even strength what can you guys do to generate a little more offense? You only had 10 shots in Game 1 at even strength.

SIDNEY CROSBY: I think chip the puck. We've got to use our speed. I said it before, we're going to create opportunities or they’re going to have to take penalties. No matter what, if we use our speed, they're not going to be able to handle it.

So we've just got to find a way to get the puck behind their "D," and get some opportunities that way.

Why does he keep saying that? I'm have trouble understanding his logic. You have significantly more control over creating opportunities than over whether or not the other team takes penalties. Or, at least, you should.

Yeah go ahead kid, just keep flipping the puck into our zone and hoping for a penalty. Even when the question is about 5 on 5 scoring he has to go on about getting into a PP to score. You're the freaking captain of your team. How about you show some confidence in your teams ability to score other than when the refs hand you a PP?

Huge game!

Yeah, the Pens will be better tonight.

But will they be good enough...? Shut em down again, show them you want it more.

W

GO WINGS!!!

Sooo pumped for this game as I'll actually be able to watch it live. In fcat we get the rest of the series live.

Can't wait for this one! Play as well as we did in Game 1 and we'll take a 2-0 series lead. Cmon boys!

That's great!

Or wait a minute, don't we usually play badly when you get to watch?

He's just lobbying. They're going to be dumping and chasing and trying to blow past our D. You put a guy like Lilja or Chelios in that position a few times and you're going to get at least one hooking/interference/obstruction call out of it. Add on some good ol' crybaby lobbying and you've just earned yourself an additional five PPs.
