Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 On his postgame interview lastnight he looked and sounded pathstic. His body language and and responses to questions screams, man I don't know what the f*** to do. If that is what he takes into the room then they have no chance to even make the next 2 games interesting. That's exactly the impression I got - he sounded like an utterly defeated man without a clue. That's pretty bad for a coach! I mean, way to instill confidence in your players...NOT! Even if that's how he was thinking, he should have said some things like, "we're going to look at film and retool and come up with a new game plan, because what we've been doing hasn't worked so far," or "we're only two games down - there are still potentially five games to play and we're going back to Pittsburgh where we're undefeated in these playoffs," even if he didn't believe it himself. Something...anything but the "I have no idea what to do" attitude he displayed last night. On the flip side, when you hear Babs say things like, "oh I know what we're going to do - we're going to play better," you get the feeling that nothing is going to stand in the Wings' way. Your team is up 2 games to none, you've just completed your second consecutive shutout in the Cup final against a team that many picked to win the Cup and you're saying you're going to play better? Woah. All I can say to that is, look out Penguins!
katiephd 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I always thought "the emptiest can rattles the most." I've never heard that before, but I love it
Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Because Therrien doesn't deserve to be treated like a man after last night's theatrics. A real man will exhibit true class and offer his hand to another even if he doesn't deserve it. The Wings players are real men and as such, they will shake the hands of each Penguins player and coach at the end of this thing, win or lose.
Bluedevils_13 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Why do Pens fans even bother defending this guy when he is just going to get fired next year anyway?
cupcrazy 13 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Therrien has a press conference right now at http://www.pittsburghpenguins.com I can't seem to watch this?
sixer 37 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Why do Pens fans even bother defending this guy when he is just going to get fired next year anyway? I'd fire him right now, lol. Seriously, he should be gone next year. Don't worry Therrien, I think the Leafs are looking
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I swear...more and more some folks remind me of Flyer fans.... well..no death threats yet...so thats a plus Seems to me that Penguins fans get offended at the slightest little thing. Flyers fans probably aren't as bad as you make them out to be. Simple fact: The Pens coach is whiny baby; Crosby is the same way. Real players put up or shut up; it's that simple. Don't mean to offend, but that's just the way it is
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Michel should just shut his mouth - when you have best DIVER in NHL in Crosby why are you complaining about diving? This guy was "bodyguard" of Roch Voisin (see Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston)... and he's ugly (uglier than Ricci). Osgood is AMAZING - still 2 games. Yzerman191 37 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Michel should just shut his mouth - when you have best DIVER in NHL in Crosby why are you complaining about diving? This guy was "bodyguard" of Roch Voisin (see Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston)... and he's ugly (uglier than Ricci). Osgood is AMAZING - still 2 games. Just as a side note, claiming Crosby to be the "worst diver in the league" is beyond ignorant. He may dive once in a while, but certainly not as much as some others. And this is coming from someone who cannot stand him.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I don't give a damn if the coach/player is whining or whatever else, after a hard fought best-of-7 series where you throw your body around and both teams bust their rear ends to try to win, you win and/or lose gracefully by shaking each other's hands. That's the least you can do when everybody works so hard in a series on both sides. Chelios should've shaken the hands of the Anaheim players last year when the Ducks eliminated the Wings, I don't care how much they might be hated in here. And Brodeur should've shaken Avery's hand in the first round, even though Avery can be an annoying pest more often than not. Do the right and honorable thing and shake hands with everybody else for a good/hard fought battle. With all that being said, specifially to the Therrien Presser, I give him this. :violin: As I've said a few times, I'm perfectly fine with players or coaches perhaps swaying officials their way or whatever else as calls go for/against both teams at various stages of the game. However, there's something wrong when you take/give little/no accountability for the actions of yourself and your team. They may have been working hard and the effort might have been there, but when your team gets shut out twice in a row, more often than not you are being outplayed. Fess up as well to your own mistakes and your team's mistakes.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 He is still bitching about the obstruction and claiming that Ozzie was diving... good gosh Despite taking the Pens to the Finals, he should be fired after we win the Cup, if the Pens want to win a Cup of their own one day. Obviously Therrien can't keep his emotions in check, can’t keep his focus where it should be, and can’t handle the pressure. A coach should be a better example to his players. If this is the way Therrien conducts himself, I'm not surprised Pittsburgh unraveled the way they did after Game 2. This series may not come back to Detroit. The next time we see the Wings could be at the Stanley Cup Parade. How is Therrien going to get his team ready when he's still bitching and moaning about obstruction and Ozzie possibly diving?
