Anyone worried about game 3 at all?

Just like in many playoff games, it comes down to lucky bounces. We got lucky that the Pens didn't score a couple of times last game, although they still would not have beaten us.

They got lucky in the first game that our goal got called back, because it could have taken the wind out of our sails. Obviously it didn't.

Tonight comes down to lucky bounces, as Ozzie is playing great. I think the Wings are fully prepared to take this game as well, but sometimes playing in one's own arena is more of a real, physical advantage than one might think. For instance, how Pronger analyzed the shape of Detroit's rink.

Anyway, I think we'll win tonight because yes the Pens are great at home, but they are also rattled right now because they know that the Wings are, top to bottom, a better team. I don't see too many people questioning that. Now in a few years, could be a different story, but wer'e talking right now.

This is probably the least amount of stress I have had getting ready to watch a SCF game in my life! Even if (heaven forbid) the Wings lose, I still can't be worried. Seriously does anyone here think Pittburgh can win 4 games before the Wings win 2 ?? I think the biggest key is to weather the storm for the 1st five minutes of the game. The Pens will probably throw everything at them including the kitchen sink. If they can get past that intial flurry, I think they will dominate the rest of the game.

I was reading the Mike Babcock presser on NHL.com a few days ago and I loved how he brought up the fact that the Wings went into Calgary up 2-0 last year, and did the same thing against the Preds this year. They're keeping those losses in mind.

On the one hand, the Penguins have a ton of motivation not to see their Stanley Cup hopes become almost out of reach. But on the other hand, how much motivation is it when you are just two wins from the cup? The Pens may be smelling blood, but the Wings are smelling sweet champagne in a sliver cup. I think the last thing we have to worry about tonight is motivation and focus. The Wings will be just fine.

I think after Nashville and especially Dallas this year, the Wings are going to do their darndest to not let the Pens back in this series.

I know it would be great to be able to win the Cup on home ice at the Joe, but if the Wings win tonight, they absolutely need to make sure they finish it off Saturday. I think it's imperative they win tonight, anyway - being up 3-0 is a whole lot different than being up 2-1. The Pens win tonight and they get a little confidence that can go a long way. You don't want to give the opposition any reason to hope they can still win it. The Pens, at least after Game 2, sounded like a completely defeated team. The Wings have to keep them believing that there is no way they are going to beat Detroit.

But I STILL think the Wings will win.

With big bad Sidney and Malkin getting all of those points this series, I don't know... We have such an even team defense that scoring against the Pens has been such a struggle so far. We all know that Osgood has played like garbage too, so we may as well just assume that the Pens are gonna blow us out tonight...

I have zero concern and can about guarantee a maximum of a 5 game series, just because I want to see the cup hoisted on home ice, i'm more confident in this series than any series so far this playoff year. There's no stopping us, even if they do happen to take one game.

Oh, and in reference to the OP's subtitle, I've been doing a shot for every goal the Wings score in the playoffs, so yeah I've been drinking a lot!

Especially game 4 against Colorado, that was brutal, but I couldn't complain! :chug:

It has been a wild ride. lol

The only thing I'm worried about is Pittsburgh's desperation showing more and them potentially injuring one of our guys trying to fire themselves up.

That's what I'm most worried about is some of our guys getting injured by those meat heads on the Pens after we shut them down again. Hopefully Datsyuk laying out Roberts and Franzen giving a couple shots to Malkin calms them down.

I've been confident all playoffs about a Cup, so I'm not worried about tonight's game. As mentioned, all we need to do is split in Pittsburgh. Winning both games is a bonus.

I blame this thread for the loss tonight. Way to get all your bad mojo and negative energy tipping the scales for the Wings.

You should also blame the sweep threads the parade threads the who will lidstom pass the cup to 1st threads.

I dunno but I'm really worried about game 3. Pens have the last change which means Lilja vs Crosby and Malkin. Their fans will give Malone and co the physical boost. Also the possiblity that Therrien will go with Conklin and he will sudddenly turn into Giguere.

Anyone worried about tomorrow's game at all?

im sorry, and i promise i am not trolling but the idea that therrien was going to start coughlin might have been the most insane comment i've ever read. if it were not for fleury we would have lost games one and two by much much bigger margins..........

Why are so many so nervous. We're up 2-1. s***sburgh did not manhandle us and only won by a goal. Imagine how they're feeling "Wow, we won a game, barely. I wonder if we can do this again."

The pressure is on them big time. They dont want to go back to The Joe down 3-1.

You superstitious son of a guns..

How about blaming it on the fact that the Wings got out hustled at certain points of the game and that the Wings hit a couple brutal posts.

You should also blame the sweep threads the parade threads the who will lidstom pass the cup to 1st threads.

I wasn't a Fleury fan going into this series- but his great play when his team was melting down around him made me stand up for him for then on. He's played awesome the last three games- anyone that disagrees didn't watch the games.

I think he stole this game for the Pens. Well Crosby AND Fleury stole the game. Fleury's play on the PK was amazing. I'm especially impressed with how well he handled Dats, Z, Franzen, Filppula and Franzen. Each of those players were dangerous and made some great plays around Fleury but only one walked away with a goal.

I lost count of how many times I've screamed f*** after Fleury stole a puck I was sure was goign to go in. :(

*Sigh* I'm still chocking to death on the Canadian media's constant fellating of the Pens so I can't stand the thought of the next 3 days. *shudder*

Congrats on the win. Note that the Pens got called on as many "obstructions" as the Wings (just in case you bought your coach's bulls*** lines).

Peach schnapps, Jager, cranberry juice.

Man I hate that shot. Not because it tastes bad, but because where I bartend it's the most ordered shot and I'm just really sick of making them.

I've been doing Royal Flushes for every goal, which is quite similar (Crown Royal, Peach, Cran).

And this game came down to lucky bounces, just as I thought. If they don't get that lucky bounce off Ozzy's ass, I truly believe we would have won the game. We had the momentum going in our favor at the end, so even in OT I think we would have won.

Oh well, with this experienced squad I'm really not worried about 1 game of adversity, especially a fluky 1 goal loss.

Not true. He played great the first half of game 1 and all of Game 3. He's been mediocre the rest of the time. If you feel a couple of the goals the Wings got weren't atleast somewhat soft, then you didn't watch the games.
