thegerkin 189 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Dallas Drake. What a warrior this guy is. Starts and most likely finishes his career with the Wings, and wins that elusive Stanley Cup on his last shot. Couldn't be happier for him.

Vladiator 116 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 agree with you on that one. I was so happy for him and for the entire team. What year it was. Didn't make the call on the thread as to who Nick would hand the cup off to (yeah just a little superstitious) but I figured it would be Dallly. Congrats to finally achieving you dream there. T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Dallas Drake. What a warrior this guy is. Starts and most likely finishes his career with the Wings, and wins that elusive Stanley Cup on his last shot. Couldn't be happier for him. Dude, seriously, I got weepy eyed when Drake hoisted the'ole Cup. Love that frikkin guy. That interview he did a short while back, where he talked about how psyched he was to get drafted by Detroit. Then he got traded and watched as they won the Cup, won the Cup again, and won it once more. The interviewer asked if he ever thought "what if" and he almost broke down, and said, "of course, I think to myself "what if". Awe man, that was a heartbreaker. I'm so happy for him. Flip-check 6 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Drake should be here next year. He ain't done. And I still remember when we traded him in '93-'94. It's good to have him back for this.

puertoricanWingsfan 5 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 As soon as we picked up Drake this season, I thought to myself, "Man it would be nice to get him a cup." I couldn't be happier for the guy. I can only imagine how awesome this is for him after so long! I'm a little biased in saying this, but this is even better than the year that Ray Borque won his cup
Systemfel 33 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) The Drake is an awesome creature! What other old ex-Wings are there we can sign for next year? Edited June 5, 2008 by Systemfel
LidstromIsASuperhero 29 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Personally I think Drake is done. Congrats to him, he's a great guy and he laid it all out in the playoffs, but for most of the season he was pretty unremarkable. Why not go out on top?
Kira 451 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I'm thrilled for Dallas. When they were speculating on who Nick would hand it to, I looked at my hubby and said, "Dallas." Sure enough I was right. But I'm also thrilled for Darren McCarty. Whoever would have thought that he would come back from the edge of despair to this? So wonderful. I cannot imagine what he is feeling right now. S_Whitney 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 how about dan cleary? drafted in first round in 1997, didnt play up to expectation and no team offers him a contract when he comes to detroit. Then got into the team and becomes an important part in winning the cup. He was in tears when his frds and family got on to the ice to celebrate with him.
