haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 As someone who hates Marc Crawford, and would also like the L.A. Kings to one day have a respectable team, this makes me very happy. The Los Angeles Kings have fired head coach Marc Crawford. Kings president and general manager Dean Lombardi made the announcement Tuesday that Crawford will not return next season as the team's head coach despite having one year left on his contract. In his two seasons as head coach, Crawford posted a 59-84-21 with the Kings. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=240278&...s=topStory_main

Probert 5 For Fighting 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 LA should offer Torts big money STAT. He's a perfect fit for them. And if LA doesn't mind, could you trade Jack Johnson to us for Andres Lilja? Much appreciated.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 About time. Crawford seems to be on the downside of his coaching career. But I gotta say, I don't think I'd be suprised to see Atlanta or even Ottawa take a chance on him. Maybe San Jose? Probably not, considering he wasn't good enough to coach their downstate rivals. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted June 11, 2008 someone please make me a list of "available" coaches... I am too lazy. As long as Mike Babcock remains behind the Wings, I am pleased.

Atlanta, maybe, but definitely not Ottawa. They're still a solid team; they wouldn't pick up a coach like Crawford to drive the franchise into the ground. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 11, 2008 Babcock resigned. No worries there. Plop a good coach in there and LA might have a respectable showing this season.

Barry Melrose is busy, so I am not sure about LA having anything resembling a decent season.

daniel1 32 Report post Posted June 11, 2008 Crawford is a ******. I sincerely hope that he's coached his last game in the NHL and pending lawsuit against him makes any team wary of giving him any type of role with them. I never liked his tactics or his antics behind the bench and I'm very happy to see LA and their young forwards dump him. Maybe now they can try and move up from the NHL cellar and contend for a playoff spot and Crawford can go fishing in some backwater dive, - forever.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted June 11, 2008 I still remember him screaming his ****** head off at Scotty Bowman and Scotty just standing there with his hand over his ear like he was saying "What? Huh? You were saying?". It was hilarious. That and the Bertuzzi/Moore incident didn't endear him to anyone.

I hate Crawford too, not to mention I'm thrilled he got fired, but why do you want the LA Kings to have a respectable team? To me, there just another one of the 29 that is in the way of Detroit's success. Well, maybe the Kings aren't "in the way" of the Wings success, but you know what I mean. PaVel DaTsYuK fan13 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2008 Thank God, I absolutely despise that man. I lost all respect watching him try to climb over the boards like a monkey. It was classic watching Scotty's composure while Crawford acted like an oaf. I really hope he's done for ever in the NHL.

To me, there just another one of the 29 that is in the way of Detroit's success. Well, maybe the Kings aren't "in the way" of the Wings success, but you know what I mean. I don't know exactly. I've always kind of liked the Kings for some reason. They've got some good young talent, but then I knew they were screwed when they brought in Crawford and Cloutier. They also seem like the Lions of the NHL. Many promising seasons go down the crapper, and the problem seems to go way up to management. I also think part of it is I would much rather the Kings have a good team and the Ducks be a suckfest. Phase 1 is the Kings having a good team.

If Barry Melrose has a job coaching in the NHL, something tells me Crawford will find one. Hopefully he'll replace Therrien, and bring Cloutier with him.
