SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I'm having terrible flashbacks now of seeing the stupid "Trade Draper for Tucker" threads that popped up here once every so often in not-so-distant times here when Draper had a NO TRADE CLAUSE in his contract and didn't give any indications that he would waive his NO TRADE CLAUSE. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Tucker would be a welcome addition on the third or fourth line for less than a million bucks. If he wants more than that, no thanks. Yes, Tucker plays a bit chippy. But so does Drake, McCarty, Draper, Downey, Chelios, Maltby. You need a few guys who get under the opponent's skin to win. I would honestly love lines that worked out like this: Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Franzen/Filppula/Samuelsson Cleary/Hudler/Tucker Maltby/Draper/Kopecky McCarty
South Dakota wings fan 7 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 There has been growing speculation that Maple Leafs forward Darcy Tucker is not in the team's future plans, meaning that his contract would be bought out by the end of the month. Source - http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/tor080612.html With the added possibility of Red Wings grinder Dallas Drake retiring, would Tucker be a viable option for filling that 3rd line, with his instigating, pest-like presence? I've never really liked the guy very much, but assuming he's willing to have his ice time cut back, and play a specific role for not too much money (which he could obviously afford to do following a contract buyout), I could see him being effective for the Wings. Opinions? I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea if he comes cheap. But when Kopecky is healthy, he should fill the role left by Drake...should he decide to retire. I really thought Kopecky played well in March and April. Tucker might just fit in with this team, you never know. Bring him into a good atmosphere and maybe we see some added grit and hunger for a cup. Has Tucker won a cup? I don't think he has.?.

Nev 1,085 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I despise Darcy Tucker with a passion. But having said that, if he comes cheap he would be a useful addition on the 3rd/4th line. Gritty, fights, can score a few goals and yes, dirty (wouldn't it be nice to give rather than receive for once?) And he hasn't won a cup, which will hopefully make him hungry. And don't forget how much the Wings love their vets. If he comes cheap, would be an ideal replacement for Drake.
RedArmy 4 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 tucker can score at the right moment, but he has serious history of goonery. I have seen him go after star players in playoffs... he has been suspended for that crap before too... As tough as Downey or Mcarty are, they are not goons... no place for goonery in the wings uniform I would hope.
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 The guy has no class. I'm sure there'd be some leftover soreness in the locker room as he's pissed off loads of people in the league. I'd take Drake for another year over that bum.
Opie 308 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) I have been waiting to post in this thread until I can make up my mind. To me this is Chelios part Duex!! Man I hate that guy, but not the same way I hated LeTurtle! or the way I hate Samuelsson, what he did to Cam, can't forgive. If Tucker was on the Wings, could I put his antics behind me, not sure because his antics aren't Avery-esque but they are pretty s***ty, they are not that far off from being Domi-esque. This is a tough one, if Babs and Holland see him fitting in the winged wheel, than I will support it and root for him, like I said he is not LeTurtle or Ulfie boy, but if they don't sign him I will continue to hate him. I shouldn't say hate him, I hate his play and his antics. Edited June 13, 2008 by Opie
Slave 31 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 i say we just keep who we have, get our rfa's etc signed then if we are stumbling come xmas time maybe pick somebody up, i like the team we have now even if drake leaves we got lots of young guys who can kill 7-8 minutes a game
zaxx 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 General ruling.. no Darcy Tucker. I agree with that. However let me propose that we consider Ryan Malone. The Pens cannot afford all their players this year and a guy who can take several pucks to the head, score 20+ goals a year to me is the kind of guy who would look great in a Wings uniform. Thoughts? KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 No thanks..... Dreger also did a segment on TSN on how it doesn't make any sense for the Leafs to buy out Tucker.... Exactly

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Tucker has a lot more talent than some of you are conceding. However, I dont think the close-knit group that the Wings have formed will be able to accomodate a guy like Tucker. Hes not exactly a low-key guy. He comes with a lot of attention, has a big mouth, and oftentimes doesnt know his place. I think this sort of addtion would cause a distraction.
