RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 My brother and I talk about this as the curse of the Red Wings. More players that have stunk after they have left include Lapionte, Lang (who amazingly has been even worse since leaving), Robitaille (who was close to retirement), and Dandenault. The only players I look at as doing legitimately well after leaving the Wings are Slava Kozlov, Sean Avery, and Keith Primeau. I'll add Cujo to the list - although he pretty much tanked while he was still with us. I suppose many players who left were past their prime or close to retirement - Luc, Hull, Igor, Shanny, but still the drop off in play is pretty baffling - HAS to be the curse! Feds still makes me sad - probably the most phenomenal all around hockey player I've seen in my lifetime - destined to be a Red Wing - then he just fades into mediocrity after he leaves. If there was one missed deal on the Wings over the past 15-20 years, that was it - no faults pointed.

joshy207 156 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 Only if they are fine being the back up and we admit that Howard is never going to be a NHL goaltender. And they would have to sign for less than 2 mil a season. I'd like to see Howard get his chance at backing up Ozzie. Where the hell did that come from??? Just because they sign a veteran guy to a one-year deal (which is probably what will happen) doesn't mean Howard is done. This is not his now-or-never training camp. I'd like to see him make the big club too, but if he doesn't, he isn't finished.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 Did Robitaille really suck after leaving Detroit? It seems to me he elft here after having an off year, then tore it up back in LA the year after, then retired.
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 why would you want to go to a team that doesn't have a shot at winning the cup when you could just stay on the team and have a chance at a few more cups Family concerns (of the legal variety), money. I'm gonna go ahead and predict this shoulder injury is the deathblow for Stuart's future as a Wing.
11iscoming 1 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 I'm gonna go ahead and predict this shoulder injury is the deathblow for Stuart's future as a Wing. maybe there is a completely different perspective on the shoulder injury, how about this: lets say he has something on his shoulder that is fixable but requires surgery. they will do it and he will be out.....lets say until christmas/new year. at first this sounds really bad, but..... he can recover from the surgery at home in california and stay with his family. in january he makes his comeback and gets himself into perfect shape until early april. the he plays his best for lets say a little more than 2 month and in june he can go back to the family with some silver hardware. this way he will only be away from home for half of the year, the 3 mio for half a season are more than enough and in the meantime our young guns can gain some nhl experience. i would say it is a fair compromise everyone could live with.
