jenova0 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 Just say NO... to drugs... & Raycroft! Seriously though, living in Toronto, I see this guy enough. Poor rebound control, poor glove hand. Really, the only good things about him; he's good positioinally, and he has a calm demeanor. Other than that, he's absolutely terrible. He may be better on our team (who wouldn't), but he ain't winning a cup, that's for sure. I'd rather have John Graham than Raycroft.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 To back up what I said about signing a goalie: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../806240346/1128 Holland added the Wings will sign a goalie after July 1. Whether he will back up Chris Osgood or play in Grand Rapids (with Jimmy Howard backing up Osgood) will be determined during free agency when the list of available goalies becomes clearer. Slave 31 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 bring in joseph (veteran who needs a cup) keep him in grand rapids, put him on team roster in the playoffs, put him ni game 4 of the finals, then put ozzy back in for game 5 when we win the cup.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 I'm sort of hoping one day we'll discuss a goalie worth a s***. We ought to be setting higher standards than Raycroft and Denis - these guys weren't even good enough to wear the baseball cap for craptacular non-playoff teams, what does the Stanley Cup Champion need with them? We can do better. They are, at best, good for forming the veteran half of a tandem with Larsson in GR and being called up for spot duty in the dark days of January should the unthinkable happen and Ozzie and Howard go down. In other words - organizational depth, not as legitimate competition to actually be on the roster. I love the off season around here. "Oh, Player X is a free agent this year. I better get to LGW and start a thread about him playing for Detroit."

Slave 31 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 tbh i would be happy if we didn't sign any free agents but our own, lock up fil and stuart then head into next season as we are, not like we have a bad team
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 I love the off season around here. "Oh, Player X is a free agent this year. I better get to LGW and start a thread about him playing for Detroit." Hey, thanks for reminding me! Jason Allison is still a free agent, so...
LeftWinger 5,152 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 ...I like the idea in siging a depth goaler, but to play in GRR. The only signing the Wings should make (other than getting our own under contract) shoud be Sundin (if he'd play here.) With Drake most likely retiring, there would be a roster spot open. Sundin wold get AT LEAST 2nd minutes. Other than that, the Wings needn't sign anyone. If they don't get Stuart signed, then just let Ericcson play... ...back to thread topic, no to Raycroft. We have the cheapest goalies in the league and quite possibly the best (we'll see how Howard lives up.) Not unless they wanna sign Kolzig to back-up, but I am not sure Ollie wants to be a back-up, isn't that why he left Washington?
