wow... i really hope that greedy hossa think about the possibilities of winning the cup and not becoming blind on all the 10M$ offers... :(

Yeah because accepting basically 1.5 times the salary another team is offereing (10million/6.7 million) is being greedy.

I'm all for getting Hossa obviously, I'm even open to bringing Bertuzzi back in a lesser role/salary.

My thinking right now though is the Wings have re-signed Stuart, so the defense is all but set, and goaltending is in good shape now with two good insurance policies in Conklin and Howard. It's not like the Wings are going to consistently go bone dry on offense, and defense/goaltending wins championships.

If we get somebody on the offensive side, great, but I am thrilled at the Stuart re-signing and getting what appears to be a solid backup signing in Conklin.

sucks that Rolston is gone, I'm just nervous about Bertuzzi, I was sick when he came at the deadline in 06-07, if we actually pay him money i'm going to be physically ill. BERTUZZI is s***

Sign someone else, and lock up Flip.

...well, maybe they're not out of the picture for Sundin. Sundin must be mulling over whether to take the money or get a Cup. Guarantee the Wings are not gonna offer him $10 million, but if Sundin was all about money, don't you think he'd already be a Canuck? Maybe he is considering a 7-8 million offer from a "contender."

...any word on Naslund or Fedorov?

TSN reports Wings offer for Hossa is 7 years for about the same as Pavel.

Im not saying you are a liar..

But im just shocked about hearing this.. and question TSN's sources.

for what its worth, i trust Tsn's sources about a million times more than eklund or any anonymous blogger. Spector really only has rumors that appear in the press so not counting him.

Also: Did anyone catch Pierre "i have a penis head" Mcguire giving kenny and the wings props? Him and darren poked fun at the fact that Finger made more than Kronwall

I was shocked too. Like I said though Bob Mackenzie is usually accurate.

Yup. Jeff Carters signing was announced some 2 weeks before it became official. Sportsnet.ca and some other sites had it up before it became official, but TSN held off until Philly made the announcement. They're usually pretty careful.

7 years for Hossa!?!?

what does this guy want....

ok, so, if this is true, next year the Wings are gonna pay three guys nearly $21 million? What do they give Franzen? If he continues along the path he started in March, he'll be getting 4-5 million, if not more. Can we afford 4 players at $26 million?

...I really hope this is NOT true, it will only complicate things later...

To me he's not as good as Pavel or Hank, so why would we offer this much and for this long. Anyone else confused. Not questioning source, but doesn't sound like Kenny.

"If you can get a star, you figure out a way to get him in (under the cap),'' Holland said. "We're not going to overpay for mid-level players.''

Doesn't sound like Kenny is out of it. He's not going to freak out, but if a big guy wants to come here, he'll figure out a way to get it done.

I just can't understand why Hossa wouldn't wanna come here... I mean he could get 5million dollar, 1 year contract no problems... i mean its 5million dollars and high chance of winning the cup... doesnt that mean anything to him? makes me wonder... :(

I cant ******* believe Holland is still interested in signing Bertuzzi. Hes retained his entire Stanley Cup roster, minus the lateral move (if not improvement) in net, and I would personally call it an improvement. Now he wants to add a slow guy who cant skate well, doesnt backcheck and has proved to be bad karma for the last two playoff teams hes played on?

No freaking thanks.

I'm sick and tired of all this Bertuzzi bashing! You ungrateful little pricks! How can you forget the major contribution Bertuzzi gave to the wings: At road games, the opponents fans would get so tired from booing Bertuzzi everytime he got the puck, they didn't have enough wind left to boo Chelios! Bertuzzi totally got CHelios off the hook at away games. Thats a huge benefit for the Wings!

Edit: Ohhh God, I'm funny.

Oh really? if the guy gets 5 or 8million doesnt matter in the long run, he can reitre and live a good life either way... but he wont win the cup in bruins or whatever rubbish team.... THINK ABOUT THE CUP BABY... thats what he should have printed in his head right now.

Its not the money, its the length of contract. What if he blows his knee out next year?

It's human nature to spend more than you earn. Proportions are still proportions no matter how much they are. 10 million or 6.7 million. One is 1.5 more. Same as you taking a 150k job over a 100k job. Be realistic, not everyone who dosent sign with Detroit for the league min. is greedy.

Thanks, seem very logical now that you mention it.

He will do what's best for him. To expect him to sign for a 1 year deal at 5 million is ridiculous. I'm sure he wants long-term security. I'm sure he wants money. I'm sure he wants a cup. Two of those three can be guarenteed. Can you guess which ones?

I would like to think we're not out of the picture with Sundin. Depends on how much longer he wants to play. If he only wants to play for a year (or so...) AND for a contender, he very well could sign with the Wings. If he thinks he's in there for the longer haul, he'll probably go where he knows he can get a pile of money.

I can dream, eh?
