b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Now that Stuart is locked up, our defense is ridiculus. Now that Hossa is here for a year, our wingers are set. All thats left to do is sign Val Filpulla to center a dominant 2nd line. Please oh wise and powerful Ken Holland, get it done before the offer sheets come piling in. Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 I won't be surprised if we loose flip... Hossa is worth it though.

poxer 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 They are probably working out a deal right now. Lock him up for about 3-5 years.
Opie 308 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 I see this as Ken Holland's next priority, then an enforcer, then Z!
wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 No thanks Zetterberg first im greedy i want all 4 (hossa, hank, flip, franzen) but i would be willing to lose franzen and Filpulla to lock zetterberg and Hossa up long term.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Here is what I posted in the Hossa thread: OK - I was just reading that link to the Pens Board and they mentioned about Flip being a RFA - Now would the Pens Organization be so hell bent that Hossa signed with us to offer Flip a contract? Just curious... As it would make for some interesting events...

Guest mindfly Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Hasn't Filppula told everyone he wanted to stay, so even if he gets a 5million contract he can still re-sign with wings in a 2.5-3million?
redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 I predict filp will get a ridiculous offer sheet from lowe anytime
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Hasn't Filppula told everyone he wanted to stay, so even if he gets a 5million contract he can still re-sign with wings in a 2.5-3million? Indeed he has.
Opie 308 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) Also how do we know that Flip hasn't instructed his agent to not entertain any offer outside of the wings, with the fact that it is now after July 1 and we haven't heard a thing about an offer sheet, maybe when teams call his agent says nope he is all set where he is. Holland while trying to win now always has an eye on the future he wouldn't let this kid dangle without a plan, not saying he may not be gone, but I bet it would be in Holland's plan! henrik40 76 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 I don't wanna lose Val but I'd rather lose him over Franzen Plus my girlfriend just bought me a sick new Franzen jersey, so he better stay!
Cicada 4 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Hasn't Filppula told everyone he wanted to stay, so even if he gets a 5million contract he can still re-sign with wings in a 2.5-3million? he's not going to reject a 5mill offer sheet...come on
JeeSpot82 10 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 I, too, am kind of scared. I don't think he'd SIGN an offer sheet, but the Red Wings are 3.7M away from the cap by my count. And that's without Chelios, Downey, McCarty, and Flip (all of whom Holland has said will work themselves out). I was thinking Flip was in the 2.5 - 2.8 range. It's a little bit troubling. Casey 145 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 he's not going to reject a 5mill offer sheet...come on He can if he chooses, that's the thing. While it's rare for a player to turn down the big cash, some will. Methinks Fil is one.
puckhog419 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 we need to lock up flip for a few years, that is the only one i am worried about. z will get a bigger contract later on in the season
Probert 5 For Fighting 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 he's not going to reject a 5mill offer sheet...come on And Hossa wouldn't honestly pass on 70 million dollars for just a one year chance at a Cup. Oh wait.... Ya never know, man. I agree with you about Flip, but maybe Detroit is just that damn appealing to these guys.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) Who cares about Flip if you have a chance to sign Hossa after this year, especially if Flip wants 5 million. Flip will never make it past the second line nor score more than 50 points. Please, please don't start with this Flip > Hossa. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Yeah, I mean, I like Flip and all and think he's a descent player but I don't see him getting tremendously better than he is. He just doesn't seem to have the same tenacity that big stars have. I don't think he's worth more than 2-2.5 mil so if it's going to take more than that, then hey, he got a Cup, helped along the way and was just a good guy to have around, but best of luck moving on... uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Id rather have Downey re-signed...then with an enforcer we have all the basics done.

Rivalred 630 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) I could see Flip getting 2.25 million this season and then a gradual increase from there - take a pay cut this year and then pad the 2nd and 3rd year a little more to even it out for him and us - so the remaining players can be signed... If you compare a realistic signing like Stillman (and factor in his contributions with points) and the money he is making - compare that to what Flip should receive (adjusted down of course)... Yet when Avery is getting 3.8 million a year - there are issues... Edited July 2, 2008 by Rivalred
