Does Kronwall become our hard hitting guy?

Having re-resigned Stuart, Kronwall should be able to be that hard hitting player that players fear coming through the blueline. Everyone saw how he played with Stuart in the playoffs, I can not wait to see a whole season with him. What do you guys think....

His biggest issue in his career is playing a complete season without injury, so if this guy can stay healthy; This guy is going to be hitting everything in his path, and I personally love it. As long as he keeps his skates on the ice, not taking penalties its all good!

I say, no way. He's not built to be able to handle that style of play game in, game out. If he tries to he'll get worn down and injured. And I think both he and the coaches realize that.

I think they'll play like that, but maybe not all season. Being physical, positional D-men is what they do, and having a whole year of that is going to be pure awesomeness. But what do we know abuot the Wings? They coast through the regular season only to kick it up ten notches come playoff time.

He'll always line up the big hit if he has the opening and it makes sense. He doesn't hit for the sake of hitting. He doesn't get hurt laying out the big hit anyway, it is always some freak accident. He isn't injury prone by any means. It's not like he has a certain problem that keeps popping up every year, none of his injuries are ever related. They are fluke.

It's not like Floppa and his bad feet and/or groin acting up all the time. It's always some random bone that you've never heard of snapping due to some weird awkward position he is in. I'd say he just needs to drink more milk.

Kronwall is a very smart hockey player and individual. He knows how to pick his spots with hits, and I firmly believe that you won't see it night in and night out, but that he'll be more consistent with it throughout the season. I think that the very strong and frequent hits we saw in the playoffs is an indication of how he picks his game up during that time of year, I think that is when he is at the top of his game on all levels.

Thats what I mean, I'm not expecting hard hitting hockey from him game in, game out because he only needs to play that way in the playoffs.

The big hits are so epic. They aren't gonna just go away. But remember how crazy he played when he came back from his injury, and Lids and Raffi were still out? Damn.... He was a man on a mission that game. It was incredible. Just a preview of how great he will be when he starts playing on our first pairing with Raffi. Just goes to show, even when Lids retires (:(), our defense will be in VERY good hands.

I second that. It's tough to do that if you're playing once a week for four months like in football., never mind an 82 game season.

I expect to see what we saw out of him last year..

He made those hits all year long, but they were few and far between, during the playoffs he just made his name off of them..

Kronner is a stud, i cant wait to see him play next year with stuart all season :D

I tend to agree, but on top of what VM1138 said, I can certainly see him playing like that but just not all season. In the playoffs is was extremely important for Kronwall to play the way he did, and while it would be great to see it every game of the regular season as well, it may not be the smartest thing for his body.

Phaneuf hits plenty, but there are plenty of games (if not the majority) where he doesn't stand up or flatten a guy at the blue line during the regular season, and that is what I see out of Kronwall this coming year. We're going to see plenty of massive hits playing alongside Stuart, but not every game.

I totally agree, KNOCK ON WOOD, FINGERS CROSSED, etc...If Kronner stays healthy all year, the big contract he was given (based on potential), will look like just another shrewd move by Red Winsg management. The playoffs certainly showed that he can be a BEAST on the ice!
