But i agree with u, the lebda ripping is uncalled for. He was solid in the finals.

The sammy and lilja ripping is uncalled for to then, I better not see you lebda nuthuggers ripping sammy or lilja for the rest of the year then..

echolalia:

if im not mistaken, meech did not play in the AHL this year because of his 1 way contract. so that means he spent all year with the twings. that means practicing everyday, travelling everywhere with the team, filling in when they needed him, being a good locker room presence and he was like 10 games shy of the minimum. cut me a break this guy deserves his name on the cup easily. imagine you worked for a company and you played a smaller role in this company, but chipped in when they needed you, did what you could to make sure everything worked out, etc. but then you didn't get a christmas bonus/vacation/whatever.

He played with the Griffins when the Wings sent him down for a conditioning stint I believe it was in January.

As for Meech, honestly I don't see why he should get his name on the cup. He didn't meet the quota, and the games he did play, personally, I didn't see him as a significant driving force for the outcome of those games. He played well, yes, but we still would've won the cup if he hadn't played a single game. Don't get me wrong, I love this kid and he has tons of potential, but looking at it as objectively as possible, i just don't see any real argument for his name to be on the cup.

we were down to 2 regular defensemen in the beginning of 2008, and still won most of the games! that wouldn't have happened without Meech's experience. He was called up by Detroit last season. Otherwise we would have had another dman from GR that had never played in the NHL before.

just my opinion.

whoopdefreakingdoo, a conditioning stint.

he traveled with the Wings. even when he didn't play, he was still there.

He deserves his name on it. He's only 9 games short and he was here the whole season and paid his dues practicing all that time and never playing. He stepped up and in when he needed to. As for the rule I think it used to be 40 games or they've been wrong for 10 years. Harry Neal said it during the finals, you can watch the Wings Championship video from 98 when Vladdie stands up at game 4 against the Caps. I hope Meech gets his name on it.

Umm yeah a little over reaction there

I wasn't suggesting he shouldn't have his name on the cup.

Just clarifying that he DID play with GR, so chill out.

I didn't realize he was with the Wings the entire season. I was under the impression that he was in Grand Rapids and was only called up for the defensive injury plague we were hit with, which by the way, if I'm not mistaken, we ended up losing like all our games in February except one or two; not winning most of them.

Wow, people's hate for a select few (Lilja, Hudler, Samuelsson, Lebda) is mind boggling. It's like you just want to complain about something. Lebda played extremely well, especially for a #6 defenseman, in the Conference Finals and the Stanley Cup Finals. He was late on a change once or twice, but overall, he made good decisions and good passes. His speed played a big factor as well. People need to stop hating. Yeah, the guy isn't the greatest defenseman in the world. He's a #6 guy who plays his role, IMO, very well.

Now, I can understand the people who want Lebda gone, because they like the potential of a Meech or Quincey. That's different.

At least we know with what political party they align themselves with. Liberals and Democrats are always negative and never satisfied or happy. They always need to have something to complain about.

I'm just happy the Wings won. I'm such an evil Right-Wing Nazi!!! Negativity is a disease called Liberalism. Go Wings!

And intolerance, fear of change, incompetent fiscal policies and violation of civil rights are symptoms of a disease known as conservatism! Go politics!

Is it just me or are most of the conservatives and liberals here as stuck up as you can get when it comes to politics?

Seriously guys, this is about Meech. Bring your biases to the political forum please.

Also about that budget: http://www.letxa.com/articles/16 I found this on google. Just for a read if you'd like.

Meech and Lebda are about the same kind of player, but Meech has way more offensive upside. Since Meech will pretty much for certain get a spot next year, then the best bet is to dump Lebda. He really doesn't need to be here anymore anyways; the only reason he was even here in the first place was to fill a spot until either Meech or Quincey were NHL ready. The guy they brought in originally to do that, Andy Delmore, was defensivily inept, so they chose Lebda instead. Regardless, the Wings really have no use for Lebda anymore.
