lfd250 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 Buffalo Pittsburgh Atlanta The NHL also announced the Red Wings' three at-large games for the upcoming season under the revised scheduling system. The new format has Detroit facing all Eastern Conference foes at least once and three Eastern teams twice -- Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Atlanta -- in home-and-away games. http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=368487

octopusonice 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 I know that the Hossa angle is compelling, and I don't have a problem with facing Pittsburgh because of the interest from the SCF, but I would like to see some home and homes with some original 6 teams. octopusonice 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 There is if you count Chicago I don't count Chicago. Besides, we already have the Winter Classic with them, so we already have the nostalgia/tradition angle with them covered.

Anomalously 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 Pittsburgh, great. Beyond that, should be Toronto/Boston/Montreal, though. It's already been said, but I may as well echo it.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 It's not going to be original 6 every year, you know. But I wonder if the home and homes will be in a row. Instead of playing Pittsburgh once in november and another in February.

redwings8831 40 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 It will be a home/home aka back to back I don't think so. Below is a link to a list of the "home/home" series for every NHL team and I'm pretty sure that some of these can not be done back to back. Look at the entire pacific division. There is no way that those teams can play back to back (ex: San Jose and Tampa Bay). http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=534889&page=4 (Reply #82)
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Er...shoot...I thought we were facing each Eastern conference team twice (home and away). Wings might NOT be coming out to Jersey then? Dammit.

They could play a tues and then fly out and play thurs. the east coast team then would continue with playing the Northwest Div.

I was on the Kings website and they have their dates posted for the home/home series. "In addition to the Kings-Sharks home game on Oct. 12, the Kings/NHL today announced each club’s 2008-09 “at large” games against non-conference opponents: The Kings will play a “home-and-home series” as follows: The Kings host Washington on Nov. 20 and visit Washington on Feb. 5; the Kings host New Jersey on Jan. 10 and visit New Jersey on Feb. 7; and the Kings host Philadelphia on Jan. 3 and visit Philadelphia on Feb. 25." http://kings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=pag...rticleid=368563
