Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 (edited) I think the name of this thread should be changed. I almost s*** myself in some backwards thought process thinking Bowman somehow left our organization. How that has anything to do with getting his money back is beyond me, but I can't hide how I feel. also: Lifts + Nieds at a quick glance looked like Leafs, so the subtitle went perfectly with my "logic". imisssergei 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 Plain and simple bulls***. Regardless of who it is, rules are rules. It doesn't bother me that it's a Duck who is benefiting, rather that rules are being broken to give money to someone who clearly doesn't deserve it. Bulls***. octopusonice 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 I am sure all of you are glad this happened... I don't like the idea of the league having a controlling interest in fining Niedermeyer or any other player for missing training camp. That's a payroll issue and should be a matter for the Ducks, Niedermeyer and the union to resolve.
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 (edited) i just think it is stupid that he gets to ditch his team for the camp and part of the season with no consequences while he is under contract Edited July 25, 2008 by Duck Guy

That's a payroll issue and should be a matter for the Ducks, Niedermeyer and the union to resolve. It's part of the CBA, the league and Union are supposed to ensure that it is being enforced. If the teams don't step in, then someone has to. In this case, the league is doing it's job, or at least acting like they are.

overHandright1 2 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 I wonder if Niedermayer would of got his money back if the Ducks had won the Cup instead of losing in the first round of the playoffs.
Booster313 138 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 A player should only be paid for the time he plays. Correct me if I'm wrong but contracts are not guarateed for retirement???
Doggy 130 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 Oh good. I was beginning to think Scotty would have to wait til November to install that diamond plated shark tank next to his pool. Well that's a load off.

Hitchhiker 9 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 i just think it is stupid that he gets to ditch his team for the camp and part of the season with no consequences while he is under contract I totally agree. I would think Ducks fans would be steamed just more than people like me who don't really care for the guy.
egroen 384 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 (edited) This had been eating me up... and I am glad this injustice was finally rectified. Personally, I think the league should offer a public apology to Neidermayer and on national TV (let's get it out of the backrooms!), Bettman should kiss Burke's dimpled ass. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 I don't see what the problem is.. The CBA explicitly says "without his club's permission."

Yeah well I heard he had to lay off one of his weekend chefs and there might be cutbacks in the weekday staff too, so I'm definitely down with the cause. Some people just don't understand the hardships our heroes have to go through at times. Can you imagine? Only 6 chefs preparing you meals and snacks on the weekend? It's a tragic story really. I hope he can bounce back.

I hope he can bounce back. We say our prayers. We cross our fingers. We join hands in our midnight vigil. We say prayers. Candles. (6 chefs? That's it? I did not know this. I shall post this on the TWFUHK website. Unacceptable!) I shall send several chefs, yes, at my own expense, to aid in this time of need. Everythings gonna be OK. In this case, the league is doing it's job, or at least acting like they are. I know it's a part of the CBA and I agree with what you are saying; all I'm saying is I don't like it. To me it's like Howard Schultz (Starbucks CEO) going in person to a local Starbucks on some street corner and telling them to order more blueberry scones. Yeah, he has the right to do it, but it's micromanaging. As far as I can tell, the Ducks paid Niedermeyer while he was not playing. No one is being harmed by this, except the Ducks and they chose to do it. Why should the league give a damn about something that's internal to the Ducks organization, and that at the time, the team felt was a non-problem?
