I'm taking nothing away from Dats, he had a great year, but how many goals did he score at home in the playoffs? 1 I think.

Zetterberg was Playoff MVP, no question. Ozzie was probably 2nd, Datsyuk 3rd, maybe 4th. I think a case could be made for Kronwall finishing 3rd.

to end confusion, all im saying is datsyuk sacrificed his body and by the time they played the pens he had nothing left. otherwise, he would have matched zetterberg in the final few games. i understand the obvious choice is still z.

The same could have been said for Yzerman in 2002. The last half of the run, he tailed off a bit because of his knee.

Even if someone is 100%, it doesn't guarantee they'll light it up.

Datsyuk had 56 hits during the playoffs zetterberg had 15. Datsyuk could barely stand up in the last series because he was tired. the end.

ps on skates datsyuks stick is up to his eyes i think he may have added 8 or 9 inches on it for pickpocketing since he was a rookie

Is this the only basis you are using to say that Datsyuk deserved the Conn Smythe with Zetterberg, or over him? Conn Smythe is for much more than just hitting, it is for best overall player in the playoffs which encompasses a lot more than hitting.

As for my thought, Zetterberg certainly deserved it, but it wouldn't of mattered to me if he got it, or Lidstrom, or Datsyuk, or Osgood. We got two of the best forwards in the league in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game, ON THE SAME TEAM. I don't need number of trophies to validate that one is better or worse than the other, to put them on a pedastal. We got to of the best forwards, and that's enough for me.

This guy thinks Crosby was the best player and deserving of the Conn Symthe.

Upon completion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Regardless of the outcome, I believed that Sidney Crosby had more than cemented his case for winning the Conn Smythe Trophy. Joining Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Ron Hextall as recent winners who's overwelming excellence overshadowed the win-loss column.

Despite playing in two fewer games and several years Zetterberg's junior, Crosby led the playoffs with 27 points. The youngest player to score that many since #99. Even when he was withheld without a point, it was'nt from a lack of effort. Crosby was noticable on every shift. Battling in corners. Taking hits. Giving hits. Buzzing up and down the ice. Creating chance after chance. All the while minding his defensive responsibilites like a seasoned veteran, shutting down the opposing line 5x5. If more Penguins played at his determined level, the Stanley Cup would be in The Steel City right now.
