stormboy 47 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 (edited) cross. while we're on the negative energy (which, don't get me wrong, i don't mind; i can be a pretty negative person) i'll just take this random opportunity to say that i hate it when people make a statement followed by: /thread i'm glad that those people decided that the topic was good enough for them to post on, but that their statement was the end-all-be-all, absolutely definitive, final thought that ever needed to be expressed on the subject (or, at the very least, in this particular context). and it's amazing, somehow, by god's grace alone, your pseudo-html code didn't work out: the thread kept going. maybe you forgot the <>'s. or maybe no one gives a s***. but, yeah, cory cross or whatever. f*** it. i haven't slept in about 26 hours. thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 Holland is holding him back in the fighting department. I don't wanna thread jack, and I don't want another "fighters vs no fighters" debate, but do you have any proof of this? I mean actual proof. Real proof. MabusIncarnate 5,359 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 Sean Avery is about the only one i'd put up on my list. Sorry, but I think Grigorenko being mentioned was really low. He was highly overhyped on these boards all last year before the season started knowing what he's been through, and that his full recovery wasn't guaranteed. He tried out, and damn him for being in a bad car accident resulting in broken bones and surgery causing his play to decline and not make the squad. So he didn't make the team and didn't live up to the LGW expectations, but that shouldn't by any means make someone glad he didn't win the cup with us considering the circumstances of his situation. I think we all know what a car accident can do to a good hockey player, so don't blame the guy for it.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 I don't really care why players wanted to leave, just that they indeed wanted to leave. Well, don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out, and make sure you finish your 18 holes of golf before the finals games start so you can see were you could have been, and what you could have raised. No hatred, but yeah, I take a certain amount of pleasure in it. Bertuzzi, Schneider, Markov, Feds, but I take more pleaure in the fact that Drake, Mac, Downey, and Captain Lidstrom and everyone else got to raise it. I take more pleasure in the fact of Hossa coming here cause he wants to raise it than I do in the fact that Crosby didn't raise it. I think its a worth while thread. kevotron 3 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 Are you kidding me about Mark Mowers? Can you give me more explanations about him? Coz i never saw him in a Wing jersey but he ll play for my hometown swiss team this year! Let's put it this way, his game has more holes than Emmentaler cheese! HAHAHA! He isnt so bad, good skater--occasionally he'll pull off a pretty cool move in the offensive zone.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 I don't wanna thread jack, and I don't want another "fighters vs no fighters" debate, but do you have any proof of this? I mean actual proof. Real proof. I don't have any actual quotes from Holland if that's what you mean. My guess is that because the NHL doesn't want any on-ice deaths, that likely means Holland has instructed Lilja not to fight. The last thing the Wings want is to be labeled as a team with a killer on it.

imisssergei 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2008 I don't get the Legace hate. Yeah, he choked, but I don't think anyone was more pissed at him than he was himself. He had a very, very good career with the Wings and I would have loved to have had him playing top-form with Osgood this year. I don't think his leaving was a slight by any stretch of the imagination. I don't hate Manny. I just never liked him. I straight up hate Dom. I wish he never won with Detroit. That being said, I just never thought that Manny deserved a chance to be the starter. He wasn't that good. He was a pretty sound positional goalie, which made he look pretty good in Detroit. But when push came to shove, he wasn't a lights out goalie. I always wished the Wings would have stuck with CuJo. I really think that could have been something special. Cujo is close to the top of my list of Wings that didn't win it, that I wish would have. If we could dig out the "way back machine", does anybody remember Julie H from the freepress forum and her various alter ego here? South Dakota wings fan 7 Report post Posted August 18, 2008 Shanny signing with the Rangers rubbed me the wrong way, so I am only glad a little bit. He's given much more to the history of the team and the three Cups before that, which is why I ranked him 5th. When Shanny left for the Rangers, part of the reason (if I remember correctly) was because it was time to give some of the young guys there chance to wear the winged wheel. So, you could almost thank him in a way.
