Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted September 1, 2008 As a former Osgood doubter, allow me to chime in. He USED to be touch and go, allow weak shots and in general shaky, but all that has changed. He has proven he is one smart goalie and has transformed the way he plays. He is certainly a guy who has gotten smarter and used his experience by adapting. I just don't want him playing too many games in the regular season, but I bet he could handle that too. pjgj13 30 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 How weird..... Usually when there is a post about Ozzie, all the naysayers come out saying he is a "product of the system" and "isn't HOF material". Where are they all now?
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 How weird..... Usually when there is a post about Ozzie, all the naysayers come out saying he is a "product of the system" and "isn't HOF material". Where are they all now? I've been an Ozzy fan since 97 when he was picked to start. Yes I know he's been around longer but I was only 8 at the time and I wasn't as into the game as I became the next few years.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 I can see the headline next june: "Chris Osgood, The "worst" goalie to ever win 4 cups!" Osgood is the perfect fit for this team. He's a calm leader. The team loves him. The fans love him. I have 100% confidence in his ability to take this team to another title, if he is well rested. More like a select few. If all the fans loved him, then there wouldn't constantly be a new thread almost every week that has someone doubting whether he can get the job done. Myself, I'm impartial to Osgood, as I usually am with goalies. I have confidence that he can do what he needs to do, much more so than Conklin or especially Howard. Yc172 3 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 He really impressed me in the playoffs last year. He should make the hall of fame if the wings do as well as they could this year.

Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 I doubt this year will be much different. He will be at or near the top statistically, except for SV% (low shot total), and he will start for the playoffs, and do what he needs to do. At the worst he is either injured (knock on wood) or he starts the season off slow because, as Babcock says, it takes older player a little while to settle into the groove of the season. egroen 384 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 He's much more cerebral of a goalie than I remember him being... I just can not believe the stroke of luck behind the Wings getting him so cheaply, and best yet, he loves them for it. I am not too worried, and Conklin is the perfect backup. BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 I'm going to draft Ozzy on my fantasy team, no doubt. People will draft their Luongos, Brodeurs, Nabokovs, Kippers, etc, etc... Osgood will be available in a later round, after I draft my point getters and he will be a steal. I play a $50 league, and am confident enough to win the money with Ozzy. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Bumping this now when reality has kicked in. It seems that my doubts were real after all. Want a cookie? Most important part of the season has yet to come and is still a little ways away, we'll see how Osgood performs in the postseason before your "doubts" are true or not. lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Bumping this now when reality has kicked in. It seems that my doubts were real after all. Exactly what doubts are you talking about? This was your post: Yes, osgood was lights out last season and a good playoff run. But what about now? Do you think osgood will play as good as last season? Just sounds like a question to me. It's great that you want to jump on the "I said Ozzie would suck first" bandwagon, but at least find a post that actually says that before you start/bump another "I told you so about Ozzie" thread ... digitaljohn88 4 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 I'm going to outlevel everyone with this perspective... Twenty-Seven Games That's it. 27 games started. Most starters in league have that many starts in early December. I'm not saying he's guaranteed to turn it around, but just from a statistical perspective it's a fairly small sample size to condemn a career.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 well atleast I dont look like a jackass like the rest of you do in this thread. eat crow. For what? The season isn't even over yet, which means that there is still time for Osgood to either ante up his game, or go downhill like you fear. There is nothing to eat crow about right now. People blasted me when I did this thread but it seems that I was right. Give me credit instead. Have you read this thread? #1. Give you credit for what? You didn't say he wouldn't be good this year. You just asked a question. #2. Nobody blasted you. Go read the posts. Find one where someone replied to you in disgreement. There isn't one. You know why? Because you didn't say anything to disagree with in the first place, you just asked a question.

TheCaptain19 49 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 osgood is unpredictable. next season he could be even better than last year. who knows. thats kind of the bad thing about him. however i think he will turn it around quick. he's already on the way.
