1. Detroit Red Wings – The Wings will succeed because of superior talent, tremendous depth and because the organization is too professional and experienced to fall into the trade of a Cup hangover. The Wings could fail only if they are hit with a rash of injuries. And to that end they can’t be thrilled with a broken nose to Nicklas Lidstrom and a fractured shin bone to Chris Chelios already.

I found this funny:

5. Anaheim Ducks – The Ducks will succeed because the team that is very similar to the Cup champs of two years ago is healthy and ready to start from the get-go, no distractions and plenty of talent in place. The Ducks will slip from the league’s elite only if defensemen Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger start to show their age.

Very similar to the cup champs, with no offense and half a D how are they close to what they were that year?

just read it, this one made me laugh too:

28. New York Islanders – The Islanders will succeed if Doug Weight and Bill Guerin discover the fountain of youth and the youth discover the fountain of talent. The Isles will fail. Period.

I only skimmed the article, but this caught my eye:

"30. St. Louis Blues – The Blues will succeed if they join the American Hockey League."

haha yeah I thought that was funny too. Also, "the Isles will succeed if Weight and Guerin find the Fountain of Youth, and their youth finds the Fountain of Talent" haha

I'm no Ducks fan by any means, but how could you say they have no offense?

Getzlaf's career is progressing year by year, so many say he'll hit 100 points, or at least very close. Corey Perry with his agitating style and point scoring touch is lethal, and Selanne will be Selanne. Three really good players with some solid depth. Not to say their offense even touches the strength of ours, but they have some good players up front.

The Penguins are higher than they should be, imo. They lost a lot of the heart from last year's team. Guys like Roberts, Malone, Ruutu, and Hall aren't easily replaced. Plus, now Gonchar is out. Not to mention the loss of Conklin. Without him who knows where the Pens would have ended up last year. They are still a very talented team but they have a lot of question marks, imo. I think Montreal has passed them in the east.
