Happy Pancake 6 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 The defending Stanley Cup champs were overrated last year and this year. With the exception of posts claiming things like the above sentence a lot of what I read I have seen on this board before.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 "you know what though - Det is honestly the class of the league we went into their house and to be honest were the better team let them have the calls now - we will take the bad whistles/bounces come June" Someone should quote this when the Rangers are out in the first round. Man, I know were bad for getting on the refs, but that was ridiculous.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 Sadly, it doesn't surprise me. Been to enough Rangers games to know that there's definitely a contingent of them that are just plain annoying. However, there have also been a great many Rangers fans I've spoken to at games that have been fantastic hockey fans, plain and simple, and totally respectful to boot. Any fanbase has that problem though.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) They look a bit like hockey fans to me. Damn them for being biased for their team. Not like that happens here or anything. PS, my s*** doesn't stink. Edited October 19, 2008 by Shoreline
Chase 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 They look a bit like hockey fans to me. Damn them for being biased for their team. Hey well at least they are passionate. But the guy that said mccreary should die for making that call is going a bit overboard.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 What the f*** are they talking about a bad call for the PP goal? too many man is black and white. They had 6 players on the ice and played it. It's a penalty. And someone said we had 4 lucky goals? What?
babycks0612 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 yeah hockey fans are passionate thats for sure. Well saying that mccreary should die is a bit overboard but at least he didnt "assault" him like my dad did to a ref one time.

babycks0612 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 and I have to admit their are too many penalities called a lot of times, but that definitely was a good call because their were too many men on the ice, if that call would have been made towards us, it would have sucked but I would have understood it, it was the right call. RedWingNut378 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Detroit is a real tough team. All they do is cheap shot all over the ice and hide behind their visors and never drop the gloves. What a joke. I love immature fans. If the game doesn't make you laugh, then the immature fans sure will. Detroit isnt one of the best teams in the NHL for " cheap shots all over the ice, hide behind their visors and never drop the gloves ". They are a smart, goal scoring team. They might not drop the gloves every time a opponent calls them a " bad name " on the ice, but they will score on you and beat you in the game. Anyone else remember several seasons back the Blues and Blackhawks fits they used to throw? Tossing out chairs and s*** onto the ice, sending out goons to take out our guys. It was pretty ridiculous. adtthosa 5 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 It's probably because the colour commentator for MSG went on and on about how bad of a call it was. You'd never hear Mickey Redmond do that. We wouldn't be much different here if the shoe was on the other foot though.

We wouldn't be much different here if the shoe was on the other foot though. But like someone else said, its a black and white call. 6 men on the ice, the 6th man coming on plays the puck before his teammate is off. Thats exactly what it was. In fact, if they HADN'T made the call, it might've resulted in a goal against US, since Voros was sending the puck right into the offensive zone. So what are the refs supposed to do? Its not like it was a hook or a hold that is completely subjective.
Matt 1,049 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 The too many men penalty call can't get more textbook than that. If Voros doesn't play the puck there's no penalty. Pretty simple. How one team gets "robbed" after giving up 45 shots is beyond me...

GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 I still don't understand how anyone can argue it wasn't a penalty. That was clearly too many men on the ice. The Red Wings were far from good again tonight, but at least they showed some heart coming back in the third. IMO McCreary is the best ref in the league. I would gladly take him for 82 games. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 I've talked to a few Rangers fans from another board, and they're also fuming about the TMM call. A penalty's a penalty though, no matter how close to not being one it is.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) How one team gets "robbed" after giving up 45 shots is beyond me... I didn't realize we had so many shots. It's nice getting 5 goals on 40+ shots when usually we get like, one goal out of 40 (when we end up shooting that much, I mean). Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted October 19, 2008 Oh man, what a sweet win. The call was textbook, no ambiguity. I was drunk and squinting at a bar TV set and even I could see it. HA. I will say this: Wings need to be sharper. But I said it in the bar and I'll say it here: Rags fans can **** off all they want about "totally taking it to the Wings" or whatever, but, 2 things... 1. Wings won. 2. Let's see where you are when it's late in the playoffs. Sure, you can talk the talk now...
