Firehawk 305 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 You know what, I'm glad the Wings won this game, but I'm so sick and tired of the referees calling the weakest ass penalties on the wings when they have the lead and time is running out on the other team. I swear to God I believe the League is telling the refs to call late penalties like that just to make games more exciting or keep them closer. While I guess I understand some of the thinking behind it, this is ridiculous, and it stems from back in the playoffs when the wings kept getting called for BS type penalties when the game was on the line. He's the reason this game wound up being close with 2 penalties leading to PP goals. Also, our PK continues to be pitiful. Maybe it's time to stop rolling a bunch of forwards out there randomly and keep the same guys on the ice. Conklin was wonderful tonight. Our 3rd and 4th lines were nonexistent. I know he's not playing horrible (stalling the puck on the PK) but he's not playing like Pav and this goes for Lidstrom too. While Nick is having his moments he's also having some terribly uncharacteristic ones... I just hope it's not a a sign of aging. Props go to Conklin who played an outsanding game... I think he put too much effort into the game to have that third goal go in, but what can you do. Let's see if Friday we can smash the Thrashers by keeping their score nice and low... after all, they battered us at home last year and we want revenge. The Wings did a pretty poor job of getting it out of the zone. Lucky Kariya fumbled that puck otherwise they might have just managed to tie it up. Worst player on the ice was without doubt Kronwall. 2 stupid penalties, both led to goals, and he couldn't handle the puck and made some poor mistakes. Just a horrible game on his behalf. Hossa played only 16 odd minutes, surprising. It was virtually the top 2 lines + Draper (for his EN expertise) in the last 5 or so minutes. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Those guys aren't doing much to convince me that they are more important than Downey right now. dude...no one could do anything to convince you that they were more important than downey, ever. also, lidstrom got majorly caught deep in the zone leading to one of the blues goals. should he be benched? obviously i'm exaggerating, but jesus. the blues were 2/7 on the pp, but one was a 6 on 4. i agree the pk needs to be better, but our pp was still better than theirs without benefit of a two-man advantage. anyway, wings win a nail-biter. now i can work on my homework with contentedness....
