I can't believe Hossa's shot. Lol. That's just sick. How can you aim a slapshot that accurately with so much power and such a quick wind-up? It was millimeter perfect. ******* hell.

Practice...

Choke up on the stick, and rotate wrists accordingly. Toe towards heel of blade and puck goes across your body. Toe open and the shot goes into a more straight or "hook" without the curve I call it.

I think our Defense needs to go on one of those field trips for "team building" without the offense. They need to get it together and learn to communicate on ice better. Lidstrom has had an uncharacteristically rough start, and should lead the shaping up. However, you can't complain too much when you're 6-1-1!

I just dont get the officiating in the NHL. Obvious calls are let go and seconds later touch fouls are called. Its embarrassing for the league. This is the worst Ive seen it in 45 years of watching NHL hockey.

I was unable to watch the game past the first goal, but I watched the highlights. Some tremendous goals scored by the Wings, including in the shootout.

5 goals and 41 shots allowed is too much. Back to back probably had something to do with that, but it's a disturbing trend. They haven't played 1 really solid defensive game in 7 tries, which is hard to understand. The Wings were almost impossible to get good scoring chances on last year.

But they keep winning, so I'm assuming it's just a matter of time before they get their act together. I mean, it's the same players on the ice, so it's not like they can't do it.

Hope Franzen is okay. Oh, one more thing:

CHICAGO SUCKS! CHICAGO SUCKS! CHICAGO SUCKS!

:)

I didn't get to see the game either, just the highlights. A few things:

Datsyuk's goal was awesome. He is so calm around the net making those moves, it almost looks nonchalant.

How did Sammy miss the wide open net on the goal that Hudler scored? Was he actually trying to pass that puck??

I just saw on the stats that Maltby was a healthy scratch? Interesting...

Fire McCrimmon! Agh

Yeah, I'm...not happy with McCrimmon. I mean, it's entirely possible that his arrival and the timing of our D going south is coincidental. But it's equally plausible that he doesn't know how to manage our defensive corps properly. Honestly, the best D man (in terms of consistency) out there this season has been Lilja. Lidstrom has looked, sad to say, downright awful at times. Same with Kronwall. Ledba is mostly useless, except for his speed, which he doesn't use to its advantage. Rafalski has been so-so; not horrible, but not spectacular. I'd hope that McCrimmon is seeing what we're seeing and is taking steps to change it.

Yes....Lids has looked bad.

But he's still adjusting to the visor, folks. He's not a rook. He's been playing without one for a long, long time. Sudden distortion of the ice, and a broken line halfway through his field of vision, has got to be a huge adjustment for him.

Oh....and Lebda's game has suffered because Cheli's injured.

Say what you want about Cheli being "old" and "slow" but you can't deny that Cheli is also "smart" and "savvy".

Lebs is missing that right now.

i cant really argue that the penalties called on us last night, at least one of them was soft, but thats just undisciplined play. what i can argue is the calls not made for us, i saw at least two that should have been PP's for us

I'm so sick of the visor excuse. Being out of position has nothing to do with a visor. Maybe if he mishandles a pass or something, you can argue that the visor was a distraction but when there is a guy sitting in the slot and lids is at the goal post looking at him, the absence of s visor will do absolutely nothing.

Do you think Nick saw Versteeg in the first period when he turned the puck over? I was so baffled to see Lidstrom do that, I just can't imagine he did see him.
